Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Fake 5G until you make 5G

Juniper's biggest customer has picked up the fake it till you make it mantra for 5G, possibly following Juniper's own 5G deception since neither company has real 5G technology to offer.

https://www.tomsguide.com/us/att-5ge-5g-verizon-lte,news-30163.html

US companies are falling so far behind in 5G technology, even their lies are losing credibility. It's that bad.

Not only had Juniper led the way with their bogus 5G claims, they backtracked and restated they meant 5th generation MX, when this was brought up. How will Juniper survive with this type of fake claims?

You have some serious brains/execution talent at other companies figuring this 5G scheme out.

5G at Juniper seems like an unfathomable possibility with all of the genius talent/great managers that have long left Juniper.
Plus, add in the inability to execute itself out of a paper bag and you get the jest of the possibilities.

Absolutely correct. Other companies have focused their efforts on real technology and solutions for 5G and tech areas that support it. Product managers at Juniper are not even knowledgeable enough to articulate the technical merits of 5G technology, leave alone seeing the potential of it's capabilities and design or build products for 5G, or in support of it. Considering where Juniper was when previous "evolutions" of mobile technology came around, and where we are today, it is unlikely there is much that can be done to catch-up in a short timeframe. A focused effort around 5G, and IoT is needed to help us recover from this missed opportunity and all the failed efforts of the past – SDN/NFV, multi-cloud, app-fabric, qfabric etc... and the list goes on.

Let's just say, even a race card won't be enough to save the pigmented behind of the clown that pushed his idea through to misrepresent the MX as a 5G mobile box. He is done. Finally. The BS is over.

When I was visiting corporate, it was clear that it's a mess in marketing. MB is inching-in to take over service provider marketing by quietly picking up cloud. What's next? Cable, mobile and wireline?

Watch out MM, your trusted deputy has his eye on your job. He won't stop at anything before becoming the CMO.

In fact it might be MB lobbying to shut down Westford because his rival SB works out of there.

Axe is about to fall on the clown show responsible for all of this.

Who is really responsible for this? RR? BK?

SP marketing? PM?

Falsifying 5G readiness has really hurt Juniper's credibility with Service Provider customers. It is so hard to build trust with 2+ year sales cycles, and now they don't even want to refresh MX's which they have been buying for years. Agree with OP, @Zg6WsVX, -- marketing should take note, it was all a bad decision. Do these decision makers ever get reprimanded for these bad moves?

BT. Dunce. And keep in mind that we’re still years away from most 5G deployments.

We may be years away from 5G deployments, but other vendors aren't. Pretending to be a 5G solutions provider may fool some sometimes, even on wall street, but that doesn't mean you can fool all, all the time.

I used to work in EVO for a short time, never understood why we were so slow to deliver anything with so many senior engineers (PE/DE) in the team. That was several years ago, I hope EVO is in production by now.

Years, you say? That should give Juniper plenty of time to get "Contrail-5G" ready to ship.

If the execution on Evo is any indication, juniper will have 5G solutions in ... 2030?

Pretending to be what Juniper is not has got this company into an inevitabke spiral of doom and destruction. It is only a matter of time before failure strikes for one last time and the entire company will be placed on the chopping block to be sold piecemeal to the highest bidders.

The stealth layoffs appear to have stopped. Maybe this forum and the open discussion has helped - motivating the HR department and/or the Leadership team, or the lack thereof, to reconsider their actions.
