I agree with the middle post. I worked at Keystone for six years (no raises during that time) ... we were always told in meetings that they were "turning the ship around" and that better financial times were "just around the corner" ... and nothing ever changed. They tried to combine Registrar/Financial Aid/Student Business into a "One Stop" to help retention issues ... without ever looking to see what the retention issues were ... Adding football was a surprise ... during my time there they said it was too expensive (hence why the added the lower costing teams golf, wrestling) ... fortunately I got out just in time.

@Ze1aS9y-3hfq, do the faculty and staff have a union?

Keystone College had the opportunity to bolster strong teaching by a dedicated faculty by investing in infrastructure and making good hires to replace retirees. Instead they squandered the opportunity, and sunk money into sports fields, NCAA div. 3 membership, and a push to new sports programs. They gambled that like in the movies, if you build it they will come. Plus, they kept adding administrators and support staff and paid them dearly, while freezing faculty and staff salaries. They stopped matching 403b, and refused to replace retired faculty, increasing class sizes, and hiring many more adjuncts. Faculty started to leave. Standards were lowered in the name of retention. It’s all about butts in seats, and in dorms. That’s money. That’s all that matters now. Not enough students left to save them.

Keystone received a "D" for its finances, and that was before they decided to add a football team.
