Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Goodbye Softlines!

"Boutros' team will also consider opening Home & Life shops where there are already full line stores" So if you work on the non-hardlines side of your store, better start looking now. Sooner or later they're gonna shut it down completely or convert it into just a mattress and appliance store.

WRONG! The Softer Side is back. Stock is coming in (and selling) daily. Customers are also stocking up for the summer months with the latest Jaclyn Smith summer dresses and other fast-fashion pieces.

Goodbye Softlines? I don't think so yet. We got 1500 boxes on our truck today and it was all full of softlines. The other 150 pieces were hardlines.

Our trucks are consistently 2/3 soft lines 1/3 hard lines. Lots of Wolverine work boots as well. We received some soft lines, mainly kids, straight from the vendor with packing slips dated 2017. I wonder where they have been hiding that merchandise?

Offshore has softline merchandise coming in steadily. Every time we have a DC it has just as much of soft line as hardlines.

What city has a Sears AND a Kmart. Los Angeles ?

Sad to say my Sears s---s. Electronics almost gone. Appliances down to nothing and empty racks of clothing. We have no foot traffic at all. The building Kmart is doing much better. Foot traffic up, patio and garden well stocked. Clothing is thinned out but at least their parking lot is full. Sears will definitely go before Kmart in our town.

Sears didn't get rid of electronics, electronics vendors got rid of Sears.

Honestly though, getting rid of electronics was a mistake. It would have made sense to invest in a k--ler electronics section, especially with the year-round layaway offering. But instead, SHLD f---ed over the vendors for electronics by instead using resources to let stores rot and burning billions in cash on stock buybacks, and as usual they just gave up and cut the department entirely in some cases. Just one less reason to go to Sears or Kmart...

Hahaha. Test stores. No wonder Sears is done and closing. All these years of being in retail and they are still testing on how to operate. Too funny.

@Zdse3Y6-1ebv I don't think they are doing any plans with Kmart. Only real plan is that they will probably just shut them down and focus more on Sears side of the company. The only real thing they have done with our Kmart is get rid of the electronics section and put in more shoes and clothes. Which in all honesty is probably the best anyway since we really don't have electronics anyway.

I wonder what the plan is with Kmart? Will they add small convenience sized Kmart stores to sears stores like they did for that test in New York?
