Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford will lose a lot with the layoffs

These layoffs might look good to then in the excel sheet, but life is not an excel sheet. Cost may be cut, but they are willingly losing some of the folks that were the backbone of many operations and that kept this place running. They will be the ones on the loss in the long run.

@Zdateq6-1ros If you were in IT you would know that the IT members who in your words “whose sole purpose was to support and perpetuate dumb processes and the bureaucracy associated with it.” all still remain. The IT members who were hyper focused on removing bureacracy and automating processes were canned. I know two tech spec that replaced six month processes with a button click on a web page. Those tech spec was shown the door. The fifteen bureaucrats that created and supported the six month process remain. How do we like those apples? Odds are on Monday the web page will disappear and the bureaucrats will carry on.

Ford will lose a lot with the 'layoffs'. Yes, they will lose a lot of unnecessary bureaucracy and mostly non-value add people, at least in IT whose sole purpose was to support and perpetuate dumb processes and the bureaucracy associated with it. There's still a ton of waste in that organization, so don't be surprised if there's a lot more to come.

Ford's been through umpteen rounds of layoffs. Unlike GM and Chrysler, it hasn't been bankrupt yet. You can't always layoff 10% of the chaff, and life goes on.

Offer to conduct a training class for your coworkers. A four day class is $3000 per person. Five coworkers = 15000 for a weeks work. As @hjd mentions you better get payment in advance.

@yzx Say sure I will be happy to help, for (name your price) an hour pre-paid. Keep reiterating you would love to help but your new firm requires (name your price) an hour pre-paid. It would be unethical for you to not honor your new firms rules. Your new firm is Corporate You for as long as you want/need it to be.

Ironic how Ford lays you off and clearly doesn’t value your services. However then You receive calls from your former office looking for advice on how to handle situations at work. Sorry guys you are on your own!! Good luck trying to fill my shoes!

Theres too many employees! Those left can do the work. Thats the problem with these narcissistic managers. They think they have to do everything and are the only ones that know anything. The company will be better in the long run with a lean work force.
