Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What you can do if you’re affected!

I was an agency rep for 20+ yrs and now work for Ford. I’ve literally released hundreds of employees over my career. Want to share my experience. Best day to lay-off workers- Tues. Why? Friday is the worst day. You are helpless. Nothing is open on weekends. If you are laid off- go to your unemployment office. They have many resources. You can use them even If you aren’t collecting unemployment. I took a 2 day/ 4 hr each day course on resume writing/job search websites, etc when I quit a job years ago. Was totally free! Update your resume right away. Load Indeed app on your phone. You can apply to positions with one click once you’re set up. Research COBRA for your medical plans. Make sure you transfer your 401k/SSIP. Don’t forget to seek mental health resources. We all could benefit. Don’t be ashamed to reach out. Sending good luck and love to all. This is a start of a new opportunity for you. You might end up happier in the end.

You sound like an annoying know-it-all just waiting for an opportunity to give unwanted and unsolicited advice thinking you're better than others. You sound annoying too.

Someone is a little defensive.

You always have a choice. I was once directed to do the dirty work on a Black Friday. I chose not to, the cowards had to do their own dirty work at 3 pm after discovering I had made zero progress on their hit list.

A year later the cowards brought in a consulting company to do their dirty work on a Mournful Monday, of course they chopped me.

So cry me a river, the consultants regurgitate whatever the manager who hired them fees them. Then managers can claim, oh we only did what the consultants told us to do. And poor me I have to give people the bad news.

Re: "Don’t forget to seek mental health resources." -- yes, support is needed. When they discarded my wife, I had to help her type in her first and last name into online application for unemployment benefits. She forgot her name due to immense stress.

To all impacted... You are in my prayers. Stay strong. Get back on your feet right away. Press on, no matter what. Survive, and be happy again. Appreciate every day you get to be here. God bless!!!

Wow you must be proud “I’ve literally released hundreds of employees over my career”

Doesn't mean it was the poster's decision to let them go. One of the most thankless aspects of being a manager is that when layoffs happen you are handed a list and get stuck breaking the bad news.
