Thread regarding Ford layoffs

UNIONIZE

After the smart redesign is over why not give Ford what they deserve. The one thing we as salaried dont do is stick together! Let's get back what we deserve! Not sure if people with less years are aware of this or not... but a long time ago at Ford we made time and a half for Saturday and Double time for Sundays. That was taken away years ago! Now... if your title is an engineer than you DO get paid the premium for the weekends. I'm not knocking that! I'm happy for them. The rest of the GSR's should be right there with them. Its Fords way of "SAVING MONEY".

IF ALL OF US STOOD TOGETHER AND FOUGHT... we could win the battle .. That's what that the engineers did. They won. We didnt try!

When Hackett sent out a email about 3 weeks ago he said There is Nothing more important to Bill Ford and myself than the people that work at Ford. WHO here reading this believes that. I almost vomited.

For those that are left after this total disaster - fight for what you deserve as a group coming together! One FORD? Make it happen!

If someone wants to work hard and be a leader go for it, not everyone wants to do that. They may want to do their current job and are happy with it. Is there a problem with that?? If you don't want to join the union, then so be it., If you do the option should be there. It is no secret, salaried personnel who are not represented in today's work force are being treated very badly. Like a freaking tool! Corporations have more than enough money, in addition have also enjoyed a large tax cut. What did they give you? Did they share the wealth, hell no. If you want the benefits, you need to fight for them, otherwise just do nothing and skip to the next job. Guaranteed it will happen again and again.

I dont think people realize some Ford Salaried workers are Union.

I would rather be paid premium for all overtime worked rather than straight time pay. My opinion only.

Salaried employees do not belong to a union. That way, they can expect their promotions through hard work, real accomplishments and displaying promotability without being "held back" by under-performers. I know a GSR who was hired 5 years ago. He started at GSR grade 6 and continually got HIMSELF promoted because he is very good at what he does. He is now an LL6 and probably very close to going up the ladder even farther because of his leadership skills and the ability to make things happen.

a portion of manufacturing engineering started to unionize about 15 years ago, but management scrambled to appease them, so it died out.

War-room it with me OP. How would a union help ford compete in a non unionized global market?

Yes I know Engineers are. That is great. I'm hoping the GSRs get together and fight to become Union. They need to be paid accordingly! Like I said. ONE FORD... If so.. paying premium should be across the board for weekends and o.t.
