The President came to visit the Cameron LNG Plant. The PRESIDENT!! Can you BELIEVE IT?!
DD told us all of how proud he is! Almost sounds like he was there, was he? No? ...Oh.
Well, was anyone from McDermott there? No? Really? No one from MDR or the project team, none of those guys in vests and hard hats? Hmm. Kinda sounds like DD's a "clinger." ("Hey, Blanche, get me that toilet brush!" HA!)
Did the President mention McDermott by name, give MDR any credit? ... No? Hmm.
Maybe cause it's a Panamanian company with a proud history of offshoring jobs, of mistreating employees?
Is DD proud that the plant was built using MDR owned technology? No?? Did MDR do the engineering? No, really? Chiyoda?
Work with me here, David! Why are you proud?
Did MDR clinch the bid? No, that was CBI, and not a day passes that David doesn't criticise CBI for winning with a lowball bid. Even tho he had no idea what was wrong with the project, how to fix it, or how to price it. He complains that CBI underbid the price but he did the same thing when he overpaid for it. Bye, $2bn! Sayonara, Chiyoda!
And anyhow the problem wasn't the price. It was labor costs spiraling out of control.
So what is David so proud of? That MDR did what it was required to do under a contract? That MDR owned the contract for the last year of a 4.5 year contract? He didn't really fix anything. He doesn't understand it, at all. Cameron fell into his lap because he thought he could fix it. But after 5 months he admitted he finally understood the problem. Until the December surprise.
Anyway, it's been a terrible year since the merger. DD needs to bask in someone's success. So let's say Congrats, David! Do something extra EXTRA special for a job well done! Treat your employees with something extravagant. Be crazy and wild and decadent!
Like maybe Wear blue jeans to the office on a Monday.
Do we dare?
