I understand that the people that got hit are probably in a lot of shock and it’s not my intention to upset them more, but I think that this info could be more then valuable to the ones that are about to be cut. Is the process pretty standard regarding the layofg and severance paperwork, or do we need to watch out for anything they might want us to do that could make our position worse in this process. Do they insist that we sign anything out of the ordinary? Is it smart to consult a lawyer?

You have 45 days to sign. 7 days after that to recind. They dont make you sign anything immediately. The paperwork wasnt even available for me. It was emailed.
I thought it was pretty standard. If you are retirement age and want the annuity (pension) call now and request retirement June 1st. You'll have to call Albright a lot and check the paperwork to make it happen but you might as well not miss out on a check.
If you want the lump sum they time bound the election so you are stuck with this year's rate.
