I just received a call from my boss. I'm safe for the foreseeable future. I think I'll buy a "I survived Ford's Smart Redesign" T-Shirt.

I took a package in 2017 but I'm stressed about this salaried employee reduction because I still have many friends working at Ford. I don't like how the Ford folks talk about people as "heads" when they are cut from the employment role; didn't like it when I worked there and still don't. Many of these people that were cut today, including those that will be cut in the upcoming days, likely have little "heads" in their lives that are counting on them. I realize this term may not necessarily have been meant to be insensitive, but it points to the big company culture that we are trained to refer to our friends in such a way. Can we try to be a little more sensitive to the raw emotion of people who have temporarily lost their livelihood and ability to support their family?
I was let go after 20+. I think I need a tee shirt that says I spent 20 years and all I got is this craxxpy t-shirt. Look, I understand that everyone’s situation is different, but it could always worse. I wish everyone luck.
My entire group is safe thanks to an open head that won’t be back filled. For the past 5 years we have been tasked one head/yr and I’m sure we will be tasked to eliminate another head next year. My group goes through this annually.
