Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

HEALTH CARE PLAN

State Street is a great place to start your career whether you are new to the industry or making a job change above all before accepting a job offer ask about the high deductible Heath Insurance that may or may not be right for you regardless of your age you can still get sick and the high deductible could bankrupt the average family I recently left State Street because of the health care plan. My new company has a 3k deductible of which 2k is paid by my new employer and most services are a 25 to 45 co pay

It doesn't matter where you work the health care system in this country is a problem for all companies, not just State Street. It is more of a government problem than any one companies problem. I am a former employee of State Street and currently work for a small company. A larger company like State Street offers a much better health insurance and dental insurance plan than most smaller companies. This is a generalization but it is much less expensive for larger companies to negotiate with the insurance companies than smaller companies.

One thing that makes it very hard with health plans is finding one that your Doctor and your Hospital will accept.

Whether its a company health plan or buying a health plan from the State, many places will not accept them .

Due to them not paying a fair payback to the hospitals and Doctors

Self-managed means State Street is funding the plan and deciding what covered, etc. Also, more and more companies are switching to high deductible plans. From what I've heard State Street's isn't that bad. For example, a friend who works at a different company didn't get the HSA advance at the start of the year to cover costs before the balance builds up.

There are way better reasons to leave State Street than their health plan options.

Yes the Cigna plan is defined as a “self managed” plan which among other things I will not pretend to understand, means Cigna can cut off coverage at any time and there is nothing you can do about it.
