Agree. We need to stop talking about small improvements to the bad offer and begin getting ready for real improvements which will only come from a long strike.

Looking forward to going on strike.

I am so ready to show the GE Execs the real power of our union which has not been realized since 1969.

“Think on that as the non union workers cash their $1,500 bonus checks next week.”

You mean that check for $1500 that will actually be about $800 if your lucky??? WOW, Don’t spend it all in one place.

GE is going to make us wish we graciously and gleefully accepted their offer! There will be no apologize followed by a better offer from GE. There will also be no sympathy from the public. Especially in Schenectady. A place that receives little more from GE in the local area other than polluted dirt.

LMAO I make twice that a week in OT in Schenectady right now! Most guys are out on mandatory shutdown and I'm still in working long shifts ! This place can't survive without me !

There is no going back to Cincinnati.

There is no going back to the table.

GE is not going to suddenly fold and offer huge raises and cut health care contributions down to zero increase. Anyone who thinks these things will happen is delusional.

More union members voted for this than against it. It only failed because of bizarre union vote counting policies. Because if this, GE is not going to substantially change the offer.

Think on that as the non union workers cash their $1,500 bonus checks next week.

Not Larry here.

But everyone should give him the opportunity to right the ship.

The question was not answered.

What GE employee will not benefit from this contract. Name one?

Take a deep breath and use your head and not your emotions. This is business and not child's play.

A no vote at this time considering The Co.'s financial status is not a wise decision. Taking the contract over the next four years while The Co. pulls out of the mire is the only option that makes sense.

I have read the proposed four year contract. It is a fair and balanced deal for all. What GE employee will not benefit from this contract? Name one.

Stand tall for your rights! You all showed real spine by voting NO to that bad deal, but this isn't the end. This is the beginning. Make us proud by doing what we can't.

We would have unionized if we could, but GE squashed us at every turn. We are not going to be their scabs if you go on strike, though. You probably have a lot of demands to make already, but if you get the chance, see if you can get them to agree to a fair vote down here on unionization. We sure could use it after the way management has walked over us these past few years.

So what is the prognosis? Will Ge renegotiate and exactly how much better does the contract need to get to have it approved??

Lynn Votes NO! Tentative Agreement Rejected!

Members of Local 201 in Lynn, MA and Local 301 in Schenectady, NY voted to REJECT the Tentative Agreement between the IUE and the General Electric Company yesterday. We are awaiting communication from IUE-CWA for more details, including the final tally from all IUE-CWA GE sites. For now, report to work as usual and prepare for a strike. Neither side has served a termination letter, meaning we are still working under our National Agreement per the contract:

Article XXXII “Modification and Termination” section (b): “If settlement is not reached by June 23rd 2019…this National Agreement shall continue in full force and effect until the tenth day following written notice given by either Company or the Union of its intention to terminate such Agreement, during which time there shall be no strike or lockout”.

THE 201 POLICY BOARD IS 100% UNITED AROUND THE MEMBERSHIP “NO” VOTE ON THE TENTATIVE AGREEMENT. This was a Nationwide Rejection, the first since 1969, and we are preparing for a nationwide strike of all IUE-CWA GE Conference Board locals. We encourage all members to do the same. Should the Company and Union not agree to return to the bargaining table, we will march unified into a strike for a fair contract.

“Culp will have a spine of steel” HAHAHAHAHA!!! That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on this site in quite some time. If he had a spine of steel, he would have dealt with the executives that were involved with Powers demise, 2 jet Jeff’s debacle, the rampant scandals in GE healthcare in Asia, the Alstom acquisition...just to name a few. He needs the workers more than they need him. Past history indicates a CEO can be pulled from anywhere. Try to hire a skilled trade in this economy though. You bet on the wrong horse. Enjoy your time off, or are you a “technician” riding the unions coattails?

http://www.geworkersunited.org/ge-contract-ratification-results-july-10-2019/

July 10, 2019

As we reported last night, the majority of individual IUE-GE members voted to approve the contract; however, our position is that the GE Conference Board Rules established in the IUE-CWA Merger Agreement is the controlling document, so the Per capita vote controls. A per capita vote means that if 50% plus one members voted “No” at any location, the entire local membership is recorded as having voted “No” and the same applies if 50% plus one voted “Yes.” The Per Capita vote results are 1,591 yes and 2,001 no, so the contract is hereby rejected.

We will be contacting GE to notify them of the results. GE’s obligation to bargain continues.

We will post updates as soon as we have further information.

Workers at Some GE Factories Reject Labor Deal

Union lawyers are reviewing election results after a majority of votes approved a new contract, but enough sites protested to defeat it under union rules.

By Thomas Gryta

July 10, 2019 8:20 am ET

Workers at several General Electric Co. GE factories voted against a new four-year contract, surprising the conglomerate and union leaders who had negotiated the agreement last month.

While a majority of the total votes that were cast were in approval of the contract, local unions in Lynn, Mass., and Schenectady, N.Y., both announced late Tuesday that their members had voted against the deal. Under the union’s rules, there was enough of a protest vote to reject the contract.

“The legal department is looking into the legality of the issue,” said the IUE-CWA, the biggest union that led the negotiations. The union said it would make a definitive statement on the ratification vote as soon as possible.

The contract, negotiated by a group of 11 unions covering about 6,600 workers, sought to maintain a labor peace as the struggling conglomerate restructures its operations. The union-represented workers are in various industrial divisions, including aviation, health care and power, in facilities across the country.

While union leaders endorsed the deal in Cincinnati last month, members in some local groups were openly upset about the terms of the deal, including higher health-care costs. The workers contend that they have sacrificed a lot in recent years and upper management has mismanaged the company.

In a statement late Tuesday, the IUE-CWA said 53.2% of votes were for approval of the contract and 46.8% were against it. But the rules that govern the union group require that votes are counted by location, as measured by a simple majority. If a site votes to reject the deal, that means that the vote of every local union member is counted as a rejection. On that basis, the contract was rejected.

To the rocket scientists who want a strike...

You do realize your pay and benefits will be cut off, right? Better hope junior or the missus doesn't have to go to the doctor.

How long do you think a weakened union with 6,000 members can foot the bill for your pay and hospital bills?

And Schenectady... LOL You have no position of strength. They are probably looking for any excuse to thin the herd there.

When this is all over, you'll wish you took the original offer. Any strike will result in a net loss for you.

DUMB!

https://www.goiam.org/press-releases/machinists-union-local-delegates-oppose-ge-contract-offer-2/

WASHINGTON, June 27, 2019 – IAM delegates from the General Electric Coordinated Bargaining Committee (CBC), coalition of 11 national unions representing 6,600 workers, opposes GE’s proposed contract and will recommend that their IAM Locals reject the company’s offer.

The IAM represents four Locals involved in the GE proposed Master Agreement: IAM Locals 78 and 1916 in Milwaukee, Oak Creek, and Waukesha, Wisc., IAM Local 912 in Evendale, Ohio, and IAM Local 439 in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. IAM members work in General Electric’s aviation and medical divisions.

“The entire IAM stands behind the decision by the IAM delegates on the GE Coordinated Bargaining Committee to reject this concessionary contract,” said IAM General Vice President Brian Bryant. “Our members have helped GE aviation and medical become the company’s most profitable divisions. Our members work hundreds of overtime hours throughout the year due to understaffing at the plants. In the last four-year agreement, employee’s health care premium share went up by 50 percent, while employee health costs to the plan went up by only 20 percent. The pathetic wage increase and the elimination of cost of living allowance proposed by the company makes this an unfair contract for hard-working and skilled IAM members and retirees at General Electric.”

Cue more whining from babies who cry about "the executives." "BUT the executives get bonuses while I have to pay $2 more a week for health care..... blah blah blah..."

Soooo predictable and weak. Sounds like my kids in grade school when someone they know gets a better videogame system.

NEWSFLASH: You ain't going to make -- and don't deserve -- more if executives make less.

If you want to make what executives make, go to an expensive college to get an MBA, work around the clock to the detriment of your family and health and prepare to never be good enough.

Or you can stay at your nice hourly job and make a decent living having not to think about GE for one second after you punch out.

If you’re a sheep and want the company to keep fleecing you, vote for a bad contract. If your tired of taking less and less every four years, there’s something you can do about it. Why shouldn’t we have better wages and benefits. The BOD just got bonuses in the form of Phantom stocks. Check it out at the SEC site. There quarterly “bonus” is going to be more than most people make in a year. From what I can tell, non of them do anything to enrich the company’s bottom line, including the CEO, the stock is down since he took over the helm, and he’s running out of rabbits to pull out of his hat.

For the life of me, I'd love to know what rational person would vote "no."

The package has decent compensation increases and very low increases in health care costs. Where else in the world are you going to do better than an 18% increase in health care over the next four years?!?!? Where else in the U.S. can people who are only high school graduates earn $80,000+ a year? The rest of it is just window dressing.

These "no" people need to wake up from their Bernie Sanders fantasy land.
