Thread regarding University of Washington layoffs

Maybe this can explain it

From an alumnus of OSU. Does it have any resemblance to Washington?

Notes as of June 4, 2020:
This situation could become very difficult. College students don't want to pay full tuition for a pre-recorded on-line canned-lecture class, so UW enrollment may decline. Also, many UW group activities [sports, dining halls, events] are cancelled or greatly reduced, and the State of Washington may cut funding to the universities after 7/1/2020. Other colleges in the USA are now cutting to the bone.
In brief, the UW Medicine Centers just furloughed 5,500 employees, so the main UW staff/faculty campus may follow that cost-saving model with furloughs and/or layoffs in the next few months.
Advice: Save cash into your "personal emergency rainy-day fund", so if the the ax falls on you, you're prepared.
Best wishes and stay healthy.
