Majority of people seem to hate working here, and yet most stay. Not just stay, but fear being laid off - when that could be a perfect opportunity to leave with a nice safety net. Why is that? What makes you stay in a work environment that obviously doesn't make you happy?
And before somebody asks me why do I stay, I actually like it here. Which is why I don't want to be laid off.
Citrix is going through a transition, where do you think that these nirvana joba are where the pay, benefits, managers, processes, HR, etc. are. They don't exist. From being a working for a sortware giant joruneyman I can say that they are all the same, or worse. Try woring under the pressure they put on you at Microsoft. Didn't makle the target by 1%, all benefits and bonuses cancelled. Citrix is still a very fair company trying to change in the 21st centry agfter stagnating and sitting on XenApp when it should have been moving servies to the cloud. Every company has it faults, Citrix in my opinion has less than most.

I have been at Citrix just about 11yrs having worked in various roles, I am grateful for the opportunity Citrix gave me in launching my career. Citrix has provided me with an excellent salary, benefits, I own property, raised a family and everything that a standard professional human would appreciate. However, though I love where I work I can’t say that I’m happy to see constant rounds of layoffs. Reading people on these forums insulting where they work saying “you hate the company” when it’s only policy and revenue protection that has you feeling a certain way. This is a business and all tech companies have their fair-share of layoffs or other means of retaining company value. I despise people who post here blaming others for their misfortunes or insult innocent people from India whom I will add have also been impacted by the same layoffs. Just remember, your whining doesn’t help.
Loyalty is a difficult word to use these days but, I stay at Citrix for the associations, partnerships, friendships and the strong network of talented people I’ve met and know. Though i dont like whats happening i do love the company and the technology its provided over the 25yrs and when it’s my turn to go then I will go with a smile on my face that i did the best I could.
In fifteen years of service, I have nothing but good things to say about Citrix (Mark T. or not). There is an amazing group of talented people in all areas. Majority of people do not hate working at Citrix. Most people working at Citrix love it. It's sad to see that people that are having a bad experience want to make it seem like everyone is on the same situation.
If you are one of the few people that thinks less than highly of Citrix, you should go work somewhere else. Citrix doesn't deserve you, and you don't deserve Citrix. Many people leave Citrix thinking that they are going to be much better somewhere else, because they have very little or no experience anywhere else, and they return or try to return to Citrix for a reason.
The benefits are great, smart people all over the company, and lots of support for people of all walks of life including age, s-xual orientation, religion, ethnicity, etc. Be thankful that Citrix is not a cut-throat like many tech companies. If you only have bad things to say about Citrix, you shouldn't be an employee in the first place.
I’ve applied to nearly every tech company in South Florida. I keep getting to second or third round interviews, but I don’t get picked. I am not giving up - I have no choice.
Well said. New tech directors here are given in the 190’s as a base which is unheard of for a director in south florida.
I think most of the people at Citrix’s Fort Lauderdale location would struggle to find a comparable position in South Florida paying a similar salary, which is why they stay. Frankly speaking, the Fort Lauderdale crowd is poorly qualified and overpaid. During Citrix’s glory days, the company managed to acquire numerous parasites and useless political people, as virtually any large organisation does. Over time, the snakes rose to the top and the capable people left.
As for Citrix’s Swiss office where I worked, most of the people stayed because Citrix paid a Zurich salary without having to commute to Zurich. Most of the office resigned itself to its eventual dismantling and simply waited for the package. Unlike the United States, one gets between 70/80 percent of one’s former salary for up to 18 months up to CHF 126,000 per year or about USD $130,000. It is not the end of the world for people at the Swiss office simply to wait for the package and then look for another job.
Your lay-off is inevitable. You might as well get used to the idea instead of clinging to a shred of hope that you will be noticed as a human being by the management and stand a chance of receiving decent treatment .
Stop deluding yourself and face reality, you will be layed off sooner or later.
