Anadarko Benefits

Will Oxy adopt some of Anadarko's benefits like the PTO plan?

Those taking care of sick children usually get permission from their manager to work from home, or take PTO, etc. I’ve seen co-workers work remote for a week due to bad flu going around in their families. Not a system to be abused though.

Officially, no, but maybe you also aren't feeling well that day? Just a thought. Most managers are pretty understanding anyway. If I say I have to go to a doctor's appointment, I've never had anyone ask if I was the patient. ;)

Oxy keeps track of sick days, but they don't count against vacation hours. There isn't an official limit, but it would become an issue if it appears the policy is being abused. As far as I know, managers and HR rarely get involved. If you were taking several sick days every month then it might eventually cause some discussion.

@ZRjWijc-4hds - will staying home to care for a sick child count as sick days at Oxy?

To me, it only looks more generous if you don't take any sick days. Switching from Oxy to APC PTO would give me 5 extra days, but my sick days would count against my PTO. In the Oxy plan, sick time doesn't count against PTO hours. For me, it would be a good deal, because I rarely take sick days. For someone with a long term illness or a sick child, it might not be such a good deal.

Why not? Anadarko has more generous PTO plan.
