What are the requirements of a shift supervisor RX?

How many hours a week in the pharmacy is a shift rx required to do? Or do you only have to do a certain amount of hours a month? I am a part time shift, thinking about becoming a shift RX, and would like to know what’s required before I ask about it. I currently have about 1/2 of the training I need. One last question is can you lose your RX qualifications due to lack of hours in pharmacy? I ask because since I’m a shift sometimes the store needs coverage, so then I’d be needed in the front and wouldn’t want to lose my RX status simply due to lack of hours because front store needs me more. Or is this simply once you’re a part of the club you’re set for life, no matter the hours. Thanks in advance!

I'm cross trained. I was required to cross train to become a shift. I hardly ever work in the pharmacy. just fill in here and there when they need someone or if they have extra hours to give.

I am cross trained in a non licensed state and worked 8 hours last year in the pharmacy. I'm guessing no requirement.

Depends on the State you live in. If techs have to be licensed you may be required by the Board of Pharmacy for your State to work a certain number of hours per week/month/ or year. I also think per company guidelines you have to work a minimum of 1 shift per week in the pharmacy. My opinion is it’s best to get cross trained. As FS hours decrease you can always pick up extra hours in the pharmacy.
