Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What’s the status with Kmart vendor relations?

Especially pantry and electronics. Both categories have been really inconsistent. We haven’t had milk or refrigerated products since before the bankruptcy... The shelves are stuffed with water and off brand foods as well as random inconsistent name brand items. Electronics vendors have stopped shipping except for phone accessories and small items like that. Our store is down double digits from last year. All departments are suffering as well though. Any insight towards when things should improve?

@1fom Sears or Kmart or both? I was at Kmart on Tuesday night and the 3rd party gift card kiosk was still there and stocked. Did Blackhawk pull out again and so purchasing 3rd party gift cards lets you pay but then doesn't activate the cards (like back in October)?

Gift cards pulled. Only Sears and Kmart cards, again! Vendor relations maybe rocky.

@hhz

36 Kmarts will close and be sold according to the turnaround plans in the bankruptcy docs. No one knows when. This will be used to fund the home and life openings. I mean the YouTube tours should make it pretty apparent which stores are sticking around.

The (empty) stores are about to be liquidated very, very soon!

They seem to be diverting stuff to busy stores like ours. Everyone else gets zip. You can go on YouTube and look at that one dude that tours Kmarts. Some have sections blocked off others are full to the rafters.

In theory this would make sense, but it creates extreme inconsistency and drives shoppers away from the poorly stocked store. Why does our store get truck after truck but the one across town has next to no merchandise? Customers (well the remaining ones) aren’t stupid so they go to the better stocked store and the lesser stocked one gets worse I mean they’re is only like 15 miles between them.

If you are an associate and get on a computer, you can go to the Kmart Retail Services portal and look up the flow updates. It’s understanding merchandise > store wide.

It will give you department by department and category by category overview of what’s shipping and what’s not.

Dairy gone. Filled with Pepsi products and water. No coffee or essentials that mean anything. No plan on place. Dollar cheap cheap stuff just collecting dust. Sad

They got rid of our electronic section at our Kmart. It is done. We only have a few TVs left and like one soundbar to sell. It is not coming back. If they k--led your electronic section it isn't going to be back. Same with our dairy stuff. Our dairy fridges remain bare in the receiving area and pretty sure that the dairy vendors are gone forever as well.

In summary, yeah, Kmart is pretty much screwed and it will continue to be embarrassingly under-stock throughout the remaining of its existence, which I hope to god it will be a short one.
