Thread regarding Walmart Pharmacy layoffs

Things need to change... ASAP...

As our professional meltdown continues... We need a nationwide professional organization that advocates for pharmacists.

I am not talking union here as unions only advocate for members and typically do not pay attention about the profession as a whole.

Pharmacists an organization that pushes back on the large corporations and mega health systems lobbyin efforts that infiltrate the APhA/ASHP/laws/pharmacy boards, gets ACPE to push standards on schools and actually suspend schools that under-perform, gets pharmacy boards to create strong regulations to help pharmacists, and makes the NAPLEX+MPJE no longer minimum competency exams letting unqualified folks through and more like a bar or CPA exam with a sub 50% pass rate.

Got the axe as Staff Pharmacist today. Same BS Restructuring, bla ,bla. The disingenuity is too much. That you may apply for other positions that may arise well knowing there will be none.Promising 60 days pay and an undetermined severance package.Heartless

Pharmacy technician here, got told today that my position was cut. Could finish out the rest of my shift or any further scheduled shifts. I had 60 days to apply for something else or take a severance. My pharmacy manager that told me this wasn't given any further information as to what that actually means.

I was a full time technician, with the company 14 years total, 4 years this time around. There was still a technician in training that got to keep their job. Our lead tech was also safe. As were the 4 part time technicians.

The over abundance of new grads allows these corps to further push down wages and replace pharmacists as they please.

If you have a new grad with a six figure loan, they are willing to take that sub $40 per hour just to have a steady job.

Let's start with a moratorium on precepting student pharmacists. Sounds harsh but if students can't get rotation placements the schools won't be able to meet (the few) accreditation standards.
