Anyone hearing about pharmacy layoffs happening today? It seems that some techs got axed - not sure how reliable the info is, chime in if you have any info...

Hi, I was the “rehire” so I was actually told during my lay-off that my position would be open again but for only 48 hrs vs my previous 72 hrs biweekly. I was asked to reapply per my dm on Walmart 1 and even interviewed. However now it’s been almost a month since and I haven’t heard anything. I have received an offer letter but I’ve been kept in limbo. As far as the information online it seems the fact that I have accepted another position with Walmart voids out my potential for receiving my severance pay, and yet I still haven’t been able to start so I don’t know if next week is my last paycheck. I feel duped, and unsure to wait it out or look for other jobs
For the person that just got rehired, did u apply with ur resume for the position? I was told to send my resume in for any open position. Did u find job posting on Walmart 1? Half my previous salary would be like 35 dollars an hour and I would not take that. Please explain.
So I got rehired with Walmart, for my previous position but at 1/2 base salary/hrs. At least they told me I got rehired sent me the offer letter etc... that was in July I have yet to be able to start working apparently there is a glitch in the system the dm has told me and I haven’t been officially rehired yet. I signed the offer letter so that means I get no severance pay, so August 22 so far is my last paycheck? Don’t know what to do, they keep telling me they know the August 30 deadline is approaching it’s just a glitch but do I wait it out and assume I will start soon, do I get the severance pay?
So I started a fb page just so it’s easier for everyone to connect and ask questions. It’s simply called Walmart layoffs. It’s not to bash Walmart only to help connect those of us impacted. I know this had to affect everyone in different ways and I feel this group can help everyone transition through. It’s a secret group and only members that are approved can see posts.
In response to someone else’s proposition...That would be awesome to start a Facebook page we can use for networking after we get paid out. I feel like now it’s much harder to find a job without connections. If asked about why you left your last employer, I agree to tell them about the layoff or circumstance. Best to be straightforward about it. As far as when severance is paid, the website mentions after they receive your signed release and separation agreement, it will take a week to process and then you’ll be paid the following company pay day.
I saw this coming for awhile. After working for cvs for 5 years and Walgreens for 8, for the life of me I could not understand their dumb a– business model. You have conexus which is slower than dial up always buffering ready to blow. We were working on windows 7. I kept saying to myself do they really plan on staying in pharmacy? Microsoft won’t support anymore. And the dumb a– bagging system is r—ded. Waste of time. I just was just thinking I need to get outta here. All of health and beauty shelves were empty. I just could only collect my paycheck and wonder.
To the “It’s happening post” what evidence do we have for writing up and firing the tenured pharmacists?
This is a repost, but IT IS HAPPENING!!
They are going to write up tenured pharmacists for every little nit picking thing going forward. Write them up and then terminate them "for cause". No messy severance pay. No negative press. District supervisors will be used as henchmen. They will have an unspoken quota of senior pharmacist jobs to make go away to try to pump up profits. Some of them will know what they are doing is wrong and will step down or leave the company, but the rest of them will prostitute their morality and dignity to the company and do what they are told until they shrink their market to the point that they will then also lose their jobs.
It will be hard to feel any sympathy for them at that point.
We should all be glad Walmart forced us out. Walmart pharmacy is a sinking ship. They’re too much of a reactive company, hiring these past executives from CVS and Walgreens. They need to be proactive in health care instead of responding to what everyone else does 2 years late. Reimbursement rates are not going to increase any time soon. The PBMs and Heath insurance companies are making record profits. CVS was bold and purchased Caremark over a decade ago. They have now acquired Aetna. Health care is consolidating. Walmart Pharmacy will never be more that a sunk cost to get people in the door. I was somebody that way displaced by politics. Other opportunities will present themselves, stay strong and don’t give up hope. Keep looking for something and networking likes it’s your full time job
Whatever happened to the e-mail list that was being compiled? Are displaced pharmacists connected on that yet?
I had 4 weeks vacation that I never took. I was just planning to use it this fall. It would not be the first time they took my vacation pay. I would be pleasantly surprised if they paid it out to me but I’m not holding my breath.
We really should all connect maybe a face book support page. But let’s wait until we get all our money. Not a page to slam the company but to put our heads together to rally to make pharmacy a profession again not just a professional slave. Also to network so we may help each other like linked in does.
And what about our unused PTO and bonuses that we accrues from FEB til June. We just lose that?
I was told last day was aug 30. So I figured that was end of pay period and we would get one last paycheck after that. Not sure though. Maybe wishful thinking. Still would like to know about severance and how long it takes.
Just wondering bc I did not get any concrete answers to my questions during my lay off surprise. When will be our last paycheck ? Is it 8/22? Our next regular or are we paid till end of August? If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated.
I have just been honest about lay off. I haven’t said anything bad to interviewers about Walmart. Just let them know it was a big disappointment and shock. Also If you take the severance package how long does it take to get it after signing? Didn’t know if this was something that takes years or if it’s weeks. No idea.
To all the fellow ex-wm rph victims, whether terminated or laid off, how do you answer the question "why did you leave your last job?" In the least detrimental way?
Do you lie about it or tell the truth? But interview tips state that we're not supposed to badmouth past employers, not to mention other employers probably would be skeptical already...
On the termination date (end of August) Walmart will send out a “release and separation” agreement to the home address on file. I assume all final paperwork is in there and you have to sign and mail back the agreement for severance pay which is paid in one lump sum. Looking at the website, severance might be 2 weeks pay per year worked even though the HR lady that was there with my MHWD when I was terminated said one week when she looked it up. Let’s hope it’s two weeks! Good idea on doing CE and all medical visits before the end of the month!
Are we going to get any final paperwork in the mail? I don’t think I’m going back
Make sure to do your CE, get any dental work done, doctor visits, eye glasses done while Walmart still pays. You’ve only got 3 weeks.
From what I heard, you are eligible for severance pay if you’ve worked for Walmart at least 5 years and you get one week pay for every year you have worked there. It looks like I’ll have to look into severance pay, myself, as I’ve been having a really hard time finding another position both with Walmart AND outside of Walmart. Even with 7 years of pharmacist experience, all the positions I’ve applied to have not resulted in any interviews.
Walgreens just announced they are closing 200 pharmacies and are laying off 10K people

At least we don’t have to watch that Active Shooter video every 3 months and take a chance we will be shot any time we are working. They do zero to prevent the extreme amount of violence in their stores.
I am unable to sign into Walmart One. Am I surprised? Their computers were always so bad it’s par for the course. Can anyone give me the basic pay out for severence? I never took any of my vacation yet this year so I can kiss that goodbye. I am curious if it is 1 week paid for every year worked. Just curious bc it looks like that’s my future.
A PCSM took my position as well. Ever since he took it he looks like a mess. Welcome to the toxic environment I was working in. What goes around comes around. Hope he enjoys my ex-position.
Has anyone been rehired?
So where in this mess is “Respect for the individual”?
The hotmail address is from another displaced pharmacist
@drhm
Face it, the company had already filled those jobs before they were posted, but still had to post as per policy.
I may miss the income, but I sure don't miss the stress and anxiety that working at that hellhole caused me.
I'll bet all the staff that the company fired (let's call it what it is) will be happier by one year from now when they've had a chance to figure out their personal financial situation than they were the day before the company dropped the bomb on us.
Let's face it, this company promotes a toxic work environment.
Our PCSM was displaced as well, but he started a job as PIC in different district. It is very unethical to take someone else’s job so that you can give it to PCSM
Has anyone tried to apply to a job on the Walmart website? I tried to apply to two jobs in my area and found out those positions were already filled. Walmart does a terrible job updating the website.
You're welcome, to the poster below. I was the person who replied with the severance info, just wanted to help out my fellow pharmacists since no one told me anything either, and I pretty much had to find out where to look, myself. By the way though, I did NOT post the hotmail e-mail address that is compiling a list - that is not me. Can that person identify who they are? Are you another pharmacist?
Email your contact info to pharmacylayoffs@hotmail.com. I am compiling a list of “displaced pharmacist “
A PCSM also took my position at my store. I was a manager and told they were eliminating my position but then gave to a PCSM.
Thank you. I’ve emailed you at that address.
I’ve noticed a number of posts of “displaced” pharmacists reporting a common thread-being let go so that the PCSM assigned to their store can be saved, either as staff or to step back into the pharmacy manager role. This has happened at the store I was in.
This reeks of unethical and perhaps illegal behavior. Has anyone looked further into this or is considering legal action? Are there those willing to try a class action lawsuit? I’m going to be looking into this.
For those still reading this thread, please keep posting and communicating. I do not know of any other forum like this one where we can discuss this. There are so many good folks impacted by this, and must not be forgotten for the next nonessential general media headline.
Thank you so much to the person who assisted me with finding the severance package information. You are very kind. That was exactly what I needed.
Does anyone on here wish to network and exchange contact information? I am in the Central Texas area. This is a devastating change and I would like to keep in touch with those who have been affected.
To the pharmacy manager from Texas - If you go to the old Walmart One login, there is now the option for non-working displaced associates to login and there is all the severance info there. Hope that helps!
I’m a pharmacy manager in Texas who was laid off. Has anyone received any details on the severance package? My DM said I was supposed to get a letter in the mail (this was a month ago) detailing all the particulars-I haven’t not received anything.
She also gave me a number for Transition Services so I can get those details (1-800-622-3989) which I called, but they said I got the wrong number.
This is an absolute travesty. I’m considering talking to a lawyer to see what options, if any, exist.
Same here, supervisors are doing absolutely nothing to help displaced associates find another position in the company...I think that's the point right, to get rid of us, but they made that statement to the press to look good. I'm just wondering if a displaced associate actually found another position and took it, then what's to prevent the company from turning around and displacing them again, this time with NO severance? Seems like a trap...
