Thread regarding West Corp. layoffs

Get Out While You Can!!!!

GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN...Upper management will assure you that your job is safe only to lay you off soon after. DO NOT trust anything anyone tells you. The company is a complete joke right now. You are better than this!!! Do not let this company sap you of your sanity. There is no reason why you should stress over this place over and over.

THERE IS NO PAY FOR PERFORMANCE...this is a lie to get you to buy into the bs they feed you. Take it from me, I've made multiple 3's on reviews and didn't get anything. I was actually told by upper management that raises were actually based on company performance and not individually performance! So you're basically writing these self evaluations to convince them why you shouldn't be laid off (when it happens). There are companies out there who would absolutely love your talents, do not give them to this crooked place.

This place doesn't want to invest money into current talent or technology. Go look at our competitors and look how much better their products are compared to the one's here at West. There is no future here and by staying, you are giving into this mess.

I have absolutely nothing to gain by writing this, I just want to try and warn as many people as possible before you're left in a c-appy situation. Let me tell you, there WILL be another layoff, I assure you of that. Go research Apollo, this is what they do!!

Please take this information and get out of this place asap. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Just be careful, they fire instead of laying off employees. Saves them the explanations and severance. Most States have an at will hiring policy which means they can fire when they want ,no warning, no unemployment, no explanation, no warning it's coming. "At Will"....if you aren't already looking for something else, think about this....

You can wait around for a long time hoping to get a severance package. While you wait you will be overworked, unappreciated for your real value, and stressed out. I kept hoping I would get laid off, as I watched the team dwindle in size and I had to take up the slack. Finally, for my sanity and physical health, I chose to leave the company after 15 years.

Granted West isn't holding you back, but "get out while you can" is a good suggestion. You may want to jump into the job market and grab a job while they are available, particularly if you're in a highly specialized role and don't want to relocate, or if you live in an area with limited opportunities. The more RIFs and voluntary exits means there's more competition to get what jobs are available to you. That being said, a Google search will yield a ton of resources to help you with your job search. And, there are many more job boards as well besides the big boys/girls, and sites exclusively for remote jobs. Don't lose any more sleep over the relentless chaos and uncertainty. Start exploring your options and get a plan together. Good luck!

We just found out in our team meeting today that a few people were laid off in the West Point area. And I'm trying my best to even find a job right now; but in this area, its slim to none.

They can’t fire more than 50 people within a 30 day period without giving advanced notice. So every time there are layoffs consider your job safe for 30 days.

Upper management promised our jobs were safe not even 3 weeks ago and yet I got laid off this time around. Bottom line is, this place will lie to you to the very end and your job can be eliminated at anytime. Good luck to you all.

Got it wrong sweetie! I am a younger female working with tenured employees, I am too. I did not say I was smarter, I work hard and have a great work ethic. Wishing a pink slip on anyone makes you a d$%k!! Have a great day!!

The guy below me sounds like some of the older @ssholes that think their salary position makes them smarter and more entitled than everyone else. Hopefully they get a pink slip too as it seems to be the lazy upper management that doesn't even know how to use basic computer programs.

Trust me, there are a lot of employees getting paychecks that are lazy and do the very bare minimum. Flipping off management left and right behind their backs. They tell managers their jobs take a lot of time(they don't).Then there are some of us that have been here for years and take pride in what we do and do one hell of an amazing job. Whatever the future holds is up in the air, but I will not let this company destroy me. I make very good money, and leaving now for way less money doesn't make sense for me. If you can get out, then do.

I sort of laughed when I read GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN, can the company stop me from leaving if I don't leave soon? (lol)

I think the issue for a lot of people is that getting out means that they know exactly how to replace the West paycheck. That's not always the case for a lot of people. For some people due to skillset and limited professional talent, it can be quite difficult to jump out of the cesspool.

Here is another idea that may work for some people. Go full Office Space. Write yourself a terrible review. Choose Winning Behaviours as a goal and mention that you are late for work every day and hate all of your coworkers.

Let the layoff happen. As you mentioned, it will happen. Collect the decent severance package and use the time to then take care of the inevitable.

The ship can sink but it will not necessarily take you down with it if you play your cards right. In the meantime while you are employed give them a taste of their own medicine. They are a company owned by greedy self-serving people so simply treat them the same way. Be a subpar paycheck-collecting employee to the very end, and flip them off on the way out the door.
