Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Fiber build by bootleg contractors

Started by in house techs building these new infrastructure and now is contractors splicing on the side walk with bootleg van and tools... what a joke , you see that in third world countries, but to see that here in USA . I wonder if investors know about these . How can a network be reliable after these nonsense it's complete?

10yrs, more like 1-2yrs or less. Lets not forget that the state agreement is set to expire soon. Once that happens there will be an even heavier increase in contractors, with the exception of union shops.

Let's do ourselves a favor and not. Complain about contractor workmanship. Let the customers do all the complaining. Why help them learn from their mistakes. If you get the go back and they mess up . Fix it and move on. Reporting it to management will only make them better .

They had contractors working on Sunday running fiber! So why can’t in-house guys get OT? All the OT and work is going to contractors!!

First off...the fiber being used is not armored. Its actually made for conduit and has no armor at all. No protection. Why they are putting non armored fiber in the air is not a good move. Its susceptibility to electrical arcs and animal damage is very high. Maybe because it's cheaper and has less prep time. But not a smart move for the long haul. They should switch to aerial armor. Thats all Cablevision used. And lash it, not the self support c-ap that sags. They should switch going forward for better reliability.

I got let go a couple months ago. Best thing that ever happened to me. Was unemployed for about 2 weeks tops. Started my own business and got another job. I felt miserable working here. Ever since they cut the OT it was a regular job to me. Left making $27 an hour and now making $33. There are jobs out there guys for those looking to get out. I feel for the couple of friends that I have are still working here and complain about this place. Get out and look if NOT stop b*tching!!!!!

Don’t you guys get it by now. THEY DO NOT CARE! Unless your a union shop they’ll have contractors rolling up on bicycles 🚲 doing work. Cheapest labor possible. I feel bad for all the at will techs that have no protection whatsoever. I’m sorry, you guys do have protection, I forgot that management told you guys that everything would be fine & that their word is their bond............................PSYCH! Can’t believe you fell for those lies🤪😜🤓🤣😂🤡

Ihtz, you can run over fiber with a heavy equipment roller and nothing will happen to it because of the heavy armor. And I think you are just making up stories.p--pp--pp--p

If you don't know the difference between using the correct word "this" versus "these", you probably don't have a clue how to do your job anyway.

"Guess are contracts aren't keeping those jobs protected!"

Don't need a contract because these the way it's going. There will be work for the next decade will some of the stuff going on out there.

Better than in-house? Lol you’ve gotta be kidding me. You have these guys leaving fiber on the ground for days at a time, letting cars run over the fiber at rush hour. Also splicers leaving can down on the ground after splicing for days because they pulled up to the site in a car and not in a work vehicle. Altice is a complete JOKE! Say what you want.

I used to see a lot of sub contractors working for us when we need some extra help and believe me when I said that they are very highly skilled on what they do. I even learned a lot of techniques from them.
