You might do your best, enrolling people who cannot get into the local community college right away. And some of your students you teach may become successful. But many will be burdened with no degree, a series of miserable jobs, and a lifetime of debt. Is that your problem? It all depends on whether you are just doing your job, or whether you go beyond that. In the long run, enrolling students who do not have the abilities or the means to finish is morally questionable. And teaching their is a tough choice, especially when you are just trying to make ends meet. For the school, continuing on that path is unsustainable.
