Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

This is not good

The company I work for sells products to Fry's. They are historically horrible payers, known throughout the electronics industry. However, at this point they owe for 9 months worth of purchases. We've frozen shipping to them until they pay. I've been following up with them for a couple of months and they still don't have information on when they will make the payment.

This is really not good for us. If other suppliers do the same, we are screwed. Sadly, I think Fry's days are really numbered.

@ZF4ww2z-2mphp needs to be prepared for angry clients when his/her computer repair shop loses access to the vast PC components Fry's Electronics currently has in stock. Maybe he/she can redirect them to Staples or Office Depot since these stores actually have more inventory.

I run two small computer repair shops and I need Fry's for a quick pick up in the store as they have vendors hardware and components not available on staples nor office depot. The sales rep said that they are preparing the stores to receive tons of new products from various vendors....under consignment, wich is the same business model as staples and office depot. looking forward for it, I just need my source of componentes and computer hardware to pick up at the store...ASAP! In Fry's we Trust!!!

I was in the Fishers Indiana store the evening of 11/5/19 to buy some memory. It was bizarre with the store being totally empty of customers and employees to assist. No cars in the parking lot too. Stock is minimal. I assume they are closing soon...🚧

I currently work at the Dallas store and well be closing very soon. We don't get product in so shelves are empty. Another clear sign is moving all blackstock product to the floor. One of the 1st signs of a store getting ready to sell. I think they'll sell real estate assets 1st and close those stores in the buildings they sell. I don't think frys as a whole is done, I think they will keep the profitable stores open and close/sell everything else to try and stay in business. Another couple of issues that I've noticed is poor customer service and all the BS products they buy to put in the stores. In my opinion it comes down to those 2 things as to why they are doing so poorly in this economy.

We also supply to Fry's and they are 9 months past due on the account. We stopped filling their orders some time ago and it is very frustrating that they will not tell us when we will be paid. They act like they have to sell the product first. We did get so far as they are sending back product for credit but we received some of it back and it is all customer returns on their end and not something we can sell as new. Very shady business dealings here. When we call any of the contact numbers no one answers the phone and there is not chance to leave a message. I say they will be out of business very soon.

"If other suppliers do the same" just look your shelves other suppliers have already - I would bet that some haven't just frozen shipping to them but also taken them to collections.

Sad, but true. The just carry too much stuff and most of it never sells. Every time I go in there, the same old c-ap is sitting there on the shelf. Nobody wants that. I'm not a fan of Best Buy, but at least they stock only certain items that most consumers will look for. Fry's just got way off track and included items, that yes, are potentially high margin if they sell, but hey, they don't. Nobody buys that stupid as seen on TV stuff...but there it is...just a lot of it. Also, there are some items that are clearance, but the clearance price is the regular price. If you're going to clearance, do 50% off or more, otherwise, it just creates consumer distrust.
