Had a meeting in my director's office at noon today. Turns out I was one of among a hundred and fifty five or so Reduction In Force cut back today at West corporation.
Didn't see it coming. Friend said "Bloody day today".

Did you get a severance?
Departments:
Accounts, client services, onboarding, programming/ appDev, engineering, sts admin, web dev, wipc. Fewer managers though.
Did the layoffs impact all segments of the company (UC, digital media, etc) or just certain divisions?
Not that it makes it better, but companies have been calling them "RIF"s for a long time 20-30 years. Sounds very slightly nicer than "fired" or "laid off".
ive heard that cute term thrown around a lot today. "reduction in force". You fired people, West. Sh--ty corporations trying to sugarcoat things and extract the humanity from the sh--ty things they do to make it not seem so bad.
