Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Fry's Austin, TX. 1 day ago.

Most all the shelves were half empty. The employee I spoke to said it's gonna close before the EOY. Even the once motivated gestappo at the exit door didn't go thru my whole bag, just marked the receipt and gestured goodbye.

Fry's is Manhattan Beach, CA is depressing. I just went in there yesterday after not having gone in for a few months. The computer section looks empty! No routers, no network equipment, hardly any monitors, very few motherboards. All video card shelves are completely empty. I have never seen a store look like this that hasn't already announced 'going out of business'.

This is so sad because it is the last 'real' electronics store in America as far as I know. I actually took several photos: https://www.facebook.com/rick.nuthman/posts/10156425217350933

Those are just a few photos too. It is really bad!

We just came from there. We were looking for a new fridge and a printer. The formerly crowded appliance section was practically bare. On the trip across the store to the computer section, large areas of the floor space were empty and most of the shelves were pretty bare. Sure looks like a store ready to fold up. Is this just Austin, or are all Fry's stores closing?
