Our store closed a little over a month ago. I received the retention bonus, which I was told was from our liquidator. I have not received the severance.
Are you expecting to receive severance? I was under the impression that retention bonuses are the only compensation and severances were off the table. Am I wrong?
The retention bonuses were NOT payed by the liquidator. It was paid for by shopko through the courts. Shopko only asked the courts to approve severance pay for states that it is required by law. Leaving about half it's employees out in the cold. That being said I was a manager in a state where it is not required to be paid and it was not asked for by shopko. We closed March 18th. On July 5th 2019 I received a notice from ADP that my pay statement was ready to see. I went on the site and found Shopko had paid my severance. I reached out to most of my former employees and they all received it. So never say never
At this point I do not think severance is ever happening.
