Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Massive IT Layoffs

So, if they are openly removing 100s of millions in IT spend, guess what's gonna happen to Walgreens IT headcount. Granted there will be more impacts on IT contractors, consultants and other 3rd party vendors but the employees will get impacted too - in some functions you'll see more outsourcing, expect more Accenture etc consultants in the hallways.

IT town hall scheduled for Aug 1st. close to the fiscal year date...interesting. You don't save a billion dollars buying less toner.

With more and more consultants, there is so much time and money wasted answering the same questions over and over.

I hope I will not be laid off. Despite what happens, working at Walgreens has helped me to earn a living to take care of my family, buy a home, go back to school, do some retirement planning,etc....Thank you.

Project dollars are basically non-existent now. Good luck anyone who’s job is to manage or do projects. Everything is funded thru the end of fiscal so if there are cuts it’s going to be in few months when all of those resources are freed up. Probably 0 bonus this year so it’s not like you need to stay thru August like the old days.
