Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Great - now we have to wait another month

Kumar followed up Hackett's note from this morning; IT will now NOT be complete with their separations until June . This is just wonderful & peachy as all get out...another month with a sword literally hanging over my head. I'm just so happy I can cry....

Well, at least I'll have the opportunity ti use up most of my remaining vacation time.....

Great another six weeks of not being able to get anything accomplished at work. Another six weeks of worry and stress. Another six weeks of not being able to make future plans. Stick a fork in me I am done.

the numbers are to "scare" the people. out of 500 supposed targets, 200 have already been done last year via PRP (preferred retirement program) and few (<20 LL5+ "retirements" via golden hand shakes). The remaining 300 are mostly targeted on employees with "issues" --performance, attitudes, potential etc. These employees were "selected" by management teams and their "selection" was vetted by HR for discrimination issues. So, bottom line 300 out of 30,000 (NA salaried employees) is 1%, which at a company level is very very small. Sh--ty for impacted people, but 99% of the NA salaried employees will NOT be impacted...sleep well

BTW - i am HR executive within NA (WHQ)

From the Wall Street Journal: Ford Restructuring Plan to Eliminate 7,000 Jobs - Reductions will include 800 layoffs in North America, where auto maker already has made about 1,500 voluntary buyouts.

I have insight on this re: IT. Not all orgs in IT are on the same schedule.

But the word I was given was that involuntary separations WOULD happen this week, but that the redesign part, the new reporting structure, wouldn't be done until mid-June.

So if you make it past this week, you're probably just waiting to find out the new org structure after that.

Looks like Ford and GM are going to push this state into another recession with all of the layoffs.

Um, I'm not sure if I'm missing your point, you're being facetious, or you actually don't even realize that people at Ford dealerships don't work for Ford.

Agree on the company needs to be more . At the time I was told my job was being "eliminated" but as I started to look at other positions, every single senior manager told me they can't talk to me. Blacklisted for sure. It's amazing that I worked there for 25 years with good reviews and all of a sudden you're sh-- and everyone thinks the same because you're on some c-ap list. It's CYA time for everyone, everyone for themselves...

OP,

Kumar's email says "... notifications will be complete by May 24. However, HR, IT and our team in Mexico will need until the end of June".

That reads to me that all groups less the three specifically listed will be done by May 24th.

Good luck and peace to all!

A word to all of us who were on the fence about taking the package would have been nice and more fair.

I left in November with a buyout package as an LL5. I struggled to make a decision on whether to leave. Luckily I have a very good friend at the executive level who advised me to take the package as things were going to get worse. It sure has!!!

Did you see they said they're cutting 7000 global salaried jobs?
