Thread regarding Ford layoffs

"I Really Hate Ford Because:..."

  1. We waste so much time and effort doing useless/repetitive/time consuming work and studies.

  2. We don't develop our people, particularly when it comes to growth opportunities and leadership experiences.

  3. Blatant favoritism and patronage.

  4. Inconsistent messaging to the working level GSR's.

5, We (still) don't work well together...trying to get participation/cooperation from a different empire (such a PTO, VO, or EESE) to help solve issues is difficult.

  1. We waste resources [time, treasure, and thinkers (that's you)] on frivolous activities. Talking about scooters, abandoned buildings, consulting firms, culture c-ap, multiple re-orgs, and so forth.

  2. etc. etc. etc.

I left 6 years ago on my own terms worked for a co that operates all of Ford's testing sites. You could see it back then this co was all about not what you knew but who you knew. Now I work at a competitor which is salaried union.

You hit the nail on the head with that list. The thing about all the culture mumbo jumbo is product seems to be a small subset of a subset. It amazes me with the balance on the scale between "done yets?" and doers we actually get stuff done. It comes however at the price of stretching doers so thin that they do free work to keep up. Curious if this round of cuts will restore a balance between " done yets? " and doers, but I have a feeling it will tilt the scale in the wrong direction. It won't be only cuts that hurt the company, but also retaining the people they have. Ford is no longer the employer of choice, and I have been witnessing a lot of twenty somethings jump ship due to at least one item on your list.

For everyone complaining about buying the train station, don't worry about it, we're not stupid, the tax payers are footing that bill. We know how to fck over tax payers just as well as we know how to fck over employees.
