Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

What’s gonna happen at Hagerstown town hall?

I don't believe Wednesday's town hall meetings will be an announcement that the site will be closing. That's not how companies go about it. If they were letting workers go they would bring them in to a team meeting one department at a time and let them go, not in a town hall setting. They will most likely share some information about all that has been going on with all the layoffs and give us a pep talk. They may also announce that we are moving to building one. They may also chastise us for the rumors that have been going around although it was Joel himself who told us, "we may close, we might move to building one or do work from home." He said, "Everything is on the table." All the rumors going around are pertaining to Joel's own words. If they are going to do additional layoffs before Wednesday's town halls, they will have impromptu team meetings Monday and Tuesday. I hope this gives some a peace of mind about Wednesday's town halls.

I can agree with the things stated by @WxGbudy-2Bllt on this matter. Definitely the most probable scenario.

Myself, I am just ready for answers! I hope Wednesday's Town Halls will provide them, but I am not holding my breath. I agree that it is possible that some select departments may have discussions either before, or after the Town-hall's. I am just ready to know what is going on. I have not been happy at my job for quite a while...this will be the push I need to get out of my comfort zone.

I think these decision come from above Joel and usually businesses follow a 5 year plan. In 2014 they did move some units to Kentucky then the end of 2016 stopped outside hiring. SD is getting ready to relocate to their new building. Hope on Wed. we will know for sure and there will no longer be speculation.

I think the slow "transition" as been in the works for about 5 years...”

That statement assumes there’s been thought and planning. No such assumption being made by me. Leadership has the thought capacity of an amoeba reaction to positive and negative stimuli.

I'm sorry the shed comment made me laugh and that will probably happen. We can only blame Citi's actions for the rumors because for whatever reason they can't be up front about what they are doing. I think the slow "transition" as been in the works for about 5 years starting with moving work to Kentucky. I really got suspicious when they stopped hiring from the outside eventually causing most of building two to be blocked off. Then the icing on the cake when Deb and Cassandra left at the end of 2018. My opinion is that they wanted to get out of dodge before the sh-- hit the fan. Now we've had an interim president for the past 6 months. If we were going to be permanent we would have a permanent president. All the signs are there. I think what Joel meant by "everything is on the table" is how we were going to close and when, not if and he didn't say going to one building was an option, but that was one of the rumors. I would just be prepared for the worst.

Let’s take Hagerstown behind the shed and shoot it once and for all. Put us all out of our misery already.
