I've learned that contracting at Google is a road no no where as the conversion to fulltime is low in the single digits. They also require you to commute long ways to their Moyntain View, CA which diminishes the hourly pay rates when you add in the 3 to 4 hour commute.
Any thoughts?

The statistics are that (1) few make the transition and (2) most leave within 2 years. It is likely best viewed as a stepping stone to somewhere else and not as a likely way to land a permanent job at Google.
Contractors do all the grunt work that MBAs from Ivy League can't do by themselves. Some contractors may be there for years with mediocre pay and no benefits.
