How hard is it to find a new job with comparable pay once you've been laid off? I'm hoping some of the people who were part of the previous layoff rounds wouldn't mind sharing their experiences.
My husband was laid off last week and to be honest - we are panicking a little now, especially because he is in his 50s.
Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
It depends on what part of the country your in, but never give up, keep the faith and don't forget god always wants to give you something better, for me it was a true blessing in disguise, I landed a government job 5.00 more an hour but still waiting on the official security clearances once that goes through, ADP will be nothing more the a nuisance a thorn in my journey of life, their is always something better, ADP is NOT the only employer or option on planet earth.
Competitors are getting their clients and ex employees.

I really like the saying that you reap what you sow. Competitors like Workday and Ultimate are gaining huge strides in the market. I have seen lots of job postings seeking people with Workday experience. I have been on a couple interviews in the past few months where they say "oh we have hired lots from ADP." So keep throwing em out ADP. It's only making things better for OTHER companies who hire your people!
Concerning the post below about making $92,300, I am not the OP. I thought that the question was for everyone.
I was making $92,300 per year when I was laid off, and I wasn't the highest paid in my department, I'm sure. I guess cheaper is better at ADP, but you get what you paid for. Cheapness and inexperience are in, while quality, competence, and excellence are out. Good luck, ADP. I think that you're going to need it.
I'm curious how much you were making at ADP? I was making $37.50 an hour.. the best I have seen offered is $18.00.
I got a better job at a 20% increase about 5 weeks after the told me my end date. I stayed until my end date and took severance.
I was also in my late 50s when I accepted the VERP last year and took the lump sum severance payment for my 25 years of service. In order to keep health insurance for my family, I use my last month at ADP for job hunting. I was able to get a job offer with higher pay through a LinkedIn contact even before I left ADP. If possible, try contracting. I've been successful getting gigs at a very good rate. There IS life outside of ADP.
I believe it strongly depends on the skill set, experience, field changes and unemployment % of your area. With layoff, bounce back depends on many internal AND external factors. Not one, in particular.
I have found better opportunity outside of ADP in my field (IT), and many opportunities if I'm willibg to relocate or travel to areas of greater demand.
I retired when I was laid off at ADP. However, my younger colleagues who were laid off with me, before me, and after me, didn't have any problems picking up new jobs. They now work for ADP competitors. That is where to go. ADP's competitors are circling this dying company like sharks, eager to pick up any new employees with payroll/personnel experience.
It is VERY hard. I was part of the VERP, and I am not seeing anything that offers the compensation I was receiving at ADP. Most jobs are offering a third of what I was making. I've been interviewing for months, and willing to take a pay cut, I think maybe the employers aren't comfortable offering such a low wage, or aren't confident that it would be accepted.
