@Z3NVwSi-1vpq: Of course not. IBM doesn't even fess up to who/how many they axed AFTER the fact.

@Z3NVwSi-1ref: Not only that, but IBM doesn't seem to realize that the people they continue to throw away like garbage wind up in jobs with new employers, and, in many cases, have decision-making authority as to which vendors those new employers hire. Think any of them recommend IBM products/solutions?

@ram - yep, all the 'journey to cloud' training is about services for multi-cloud environments. looks like they've given up on having a real one of their own and are dropping back into the SI business.

Does anyone have any actual info? i.e. BU's / functional areas and timing? Not looking for speculation or guestimates.

@Z3NVwSi-xea GBS/GTS are not being sold off, for the love of God please stop with this nonsense already. The whole reason IBM is buying Red Hat is to drive Services revenue. They sure as hell aren't spending $34B to acquire $400M in Net Income with a 10% annual growth rate. Nor are they buying it for the IP, which doesn't exist because it's Free and Open Source Software.

I wonder how long marketing will take to decide what color the IBM-RedHat logo should be.

reminds me of:

Douglas Adams on the invention of the wheel (from The Restaurant at he End of the Universe, 1980)

"What about this wheel thingy? It sounds a terribly interesting project."

"Ah," said the marketing girl, "Well, we're having a little difficulty there."

"Difficulty?" exclaimed Ford. "Difficulty? What do you mean, difficulty? It's the single simplest machine in the entire Universe!"

The marketing girl soured him with a look.

"Alright, Mr. Wiseguy," she said, "if you're so clever, you tell us what colour it should be."

On the DK (initials, GM of the Cloud Div), the guy said that we are way behind in this quarter. He also mentioned the amount of time spent with Marketing to decide on the new names of various offerings... that is the problem with IBM these days, there is no focus on products just some marketing non sense, then they wonder why Revenues go down every quarter.

If true, IBM will harvest out the “cloud/Cognitive” personnel they want first. The real question is can IBM spin their way out of the revenue decline certain to show up as soon as the ink is dry. Given the CFO’s statements, it sure looks like IBM India will absorb a large part of the spinoff

They need cash so they need to do something soon.

My money is on GBS/GTS being sold off as one, not separately.
