Will OXY take over the two buildings Anadarko has in the Woodlands?

2jzy, you are spot on. So few people realize that, it amazes me. If you work for a publicly traded E&P, then Wall Street is running your business. The execs are so terrified of getting muscled out after a bad quarter they will do whatever the street asks of them, even if it means sinking gargantuan amounts of capital into the ground at a loss. The tide is changing somewhat and they seem to care more about earnings rather than production, but their insane nationalistic attitudes (all that "energy independence" nonsense) have forced operators to piss away money in the Permian. You know what's even worse than not being energy independent? Blowing through the little resource we have left trying to achieve it, only to realize that we still need hydrocarbons for fuel, let alone agriculture and plastics...it's so short-sighted and id--tic.
Someone will buy them and pit the to good use. The community will continue on but under different ownership. The buildings are going no where just Anadarko. If this had of happened before the new Oxy campus we might be staying in The Woodlands. The majority of Oxy employees are in West Houston, so it made sense to go there.
It saddens me to think these buildings won’t be occupied. It’s such an amazing setup right on the Waterway with easy access to all of The Woodlands trails, great cafeterias, locker rooms, and generally beautiful place to be.
Everyone seems to be forgetting the point if an oil and gas company. You buy assets, develop them, then sell them.
Wow, that list is almost a full docket of former hot spots that Wall Street forced every operator into over the years. Permian is on the clock.
Please sell them. Get rid of them. I want the package. And so do a lot of other people. handclap emoji TRUST handclap emoji
Salt Creek, CBM, Utica... really? There are certainly easier ways of making a living you make it sound as if it was a loss
Here is a list of assets RAW sold in the last 3-5 years "to keep Anadarko going":
-
Alaska
-
Eagle Ford
-
Haynesville
-
Marcellus
-
Utica
-
Ozona
-
Hugoton
-
CBM
-
Salt Creek
-
China
And the list goes on........ finally gave in and sold the entire company
Don’t have time to list all the assets RAW sold to “keep Anadarko going”.
I would not be surprised if The Woodlands offices are not around for at least another year while the new campus is being finished. I just hope someone buys it so Montgomery County can still get the tax revenues from an employer and all of their employees. With Anadarko being the number two employer in the county all our taxes could go up once they are gone. Too bad RAW did not sale the international assets and keep Anadarko going. But I guess that would have been too easy.
Agree almost with Giant Cat. GoM will be sold and there will be no need for The Woodlands campus, but I don’t see Oxy letting the inmates run the asylum in Denver. They’ll move all non-essential personnel to Houston (which will be at most 10% of the office folks because nobody wants to leave CO) and work the Rockies from TX (I bet Platteville remains open) It’s no secret Oxy isn’t too impressed with our Delaware results, so I’m not sure what they do with that dumpster fire. I’m sure a lot of the technical teams will be offered jobs, but management will be wiped out completely.
My guess is Oxy will sell APC’s GOM assets and at least try to sell The Woodlands towers. Oxy will have no need for the personnel currently in the towers - APC’s international assets are being sold to Total and the personnel running the Delaware operation will stay in Midland whole same will be true for the folks in Denver running the Niobrara.
Kiss your cushy commute goodbye!
Maybe Amazon will move into them. More high quality jobs for the Woodlands area!
Pretty sure OXY will takeover the buildings. The question is, will they keep them?
If they actually keep offshore GOM and as an approach not to lose APC personnel they could offer options to remain in Woodlands offices. We work remotely via Lync with our field offices anyway.
My understanding is that their new offices can't accommodate all of their current personnel comfortably.
Not going to happen. Regardless of who bought Anadarko the woodlands offices were gone.
So you’re saying there’s a chance!
And risk their own employees quitting due to the change in commute? I'll go ahead and give it less than a 1% chance. They'll just go on the chopping block along with the delusional people they contain.
