Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Shocked we are getting any customers at all

Who exactly still comes to Sears to do their shopping? Family and friends of those of us still working here? Some seniors who come here for nostalgia reasons? Isn't that it? Who else would decide to set foot into this disaster with so many better options available?

It's just the matter of time before even those most loyal give up on us. We'll see how much longer until that happens.

Committed members want the shopping experience and exclusive products that only Sears can provide. There is nowhere else in America that has what Sears has.

We used to have 5 Sears within "drivable" distance. Now there's one, and 5 Kohl's, 5 Marshalls, and 5 TJ Maxx's, 2 Costco's, 2 Sam's and 3 Best Buy's instead. Before it closed, the K Mart was ghetto as ghetto gets, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a decade and was literally falling apart. Eddie lost what, $7B of his net worth while owning Sears? Not hard to see why.

"Our store lost a good chunk of customers when the lands end shop closed."

That's the one thing I miss about the Sears near me closing. LE had some nice stuff.

Will I drive 45 minutes to go to the closest Sears to shop LE? Nope

I go there all the time. I load up a bag of free stuff. SYW thanks me to take merchandise. The following week I get more freecash for taking the previous week’s handout. Eddie is quite the philantopist.

My mother shops at Sears. 75 years old and she likes the pajamas. Some of her friends living in her age restricted community like shopping there too.

But even they prefer Kohls and Macy's more because of better coupons and better return policies.

Wanted to buy a pair of Sketcher sneakers and use my $25 in points. Same brand ad style at JCP and Kohls and Amazon is $25 less. Used my points on a hose. P.S. My points were from a $300 cash-back prior to Chap-11. I used most of those points to purchase from closing stores when everything was 80-90% off. The bottom line is points will not bring me to shop at a Sears store anymore, since there are no stores within a 100 mile radius of where I live.

I honestly think the whole points thing has caused more loss of money for the company than anything. Probably one of their worst ideas in the long run.

Agreed. Why would anyone willingly pay 10-30% more than you would at any other retailer for the same item? And don't give me the "I've got points" b---s---. Eddie, customers are not id--ts.

That is why they keep pushing the reward program, trying to keep customers coming back.

Our store lost a good chunk of customers when the lands end shop closed. It’s very apparent, LE brought in the majority of foot traffic. Other than appliances and shoes, there’s really no other reason to shop here.
