Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How many stores have closed under the new company?

Know there isn’t any official info and it is hard to figure out, but I’m definitely curious about that. I would also like to know in what parts of the country has Sears lost it’s footprint after the new company started. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Sears and Kmart have completely left the Portland, Oregon metro area. Nearest sears is 100 miles away, nearest Kmart is 70 miles. The company has one location in Oregon left, a Kmart store. A handful of sears stores left in Washington and one random Kmart as well. The Pacific Northwest was pretty much abandoned.

@Z1HJZci-ysp. Oak Brook renovation cost Sears nothing. The contractors were never paid.

@2eer pretty sure s/he pulled those numbers from the hush list including those with expiring leases that haven't been communicated yet

@raf Your store count means that 22 stores have closed. Where did you get your numbers?

Austin, which had a Sears store since 1928, and which at one point had four stores, no longer has a Sears presence at all.

As of two weeks ago the total store count was

203 sears and 200 Kmart

I’m sure that the totals will be quietly be going down until Eddie has taken what he wants in property and licenses

Then the rest of the stores will close

After the Oak Brook debacle I'm sure the Des Plaines Kmart employees are looking over their shoulder. Nice store. I hope Eddie leaves it alone.

Just think of all the money they blew on Oak Brook, the store of the future. What a waste.

I know of one store in Puerto Rico that was devastated after hurricane Maria and they had spend a lot of $$ to restore will not be opening. After almost 2 years and so much $$ they will not be opening.
