Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Morris.

Hope we know what we're getting into. All I've heard is guys complaining about they can't take vacation when they want....doesn't seem worth my 2%.

If the union is no big deal why is the company spending thousands of $$$ to get everyone to vote no? Why did they hire an outside consultant and pay him thousands of dollars per week to "Explain what joining a Union means and recommending that employees vote NO for Union representation."? (That is in his contract) They'll spend tons of money to keep the union out, say they're going to fix all the problems but can't do anything right now. They aren't going to do squat!

If only a few techs wanted the union then It would have never have gotten this far. Just sounds like a management troll talking about Teams and slackers? Who uses the word Teams anyway except for the Team leader. AKA Supervisor.... Stay strong Morris and remember strength in numbers!!! Oh and to another comment made up top, not getting vacation days is reason enough to vote them in.... troll somewhere else

Across all the shops it seems to be the same. Either you are a slacker, and afraid of losing your job, and pro union. Or, you do your job, don’t feel like you need some one taking money out of your pay check, and know when the company decides to f*€|< us all, there will be nothing any one can do about it. And we’ve already seen the contracts used against us here. It’s easier now than ever to get put on a final.

Don’t even understand why or how?! A few techs that are slacking and trying to find ways to cut corners go and file a petition without half the depot even knowing. Our team has been fine but since the other crew is a mess everyone has to suffer. Makes no sense.

One team is good and has no issues. One team is a mess due to management. Maybe you should address the higher ups instead of being quiet in meetings. The big "u" will bring order to the policies that we don't know about. Think about what you have actually gotten away with. You think it's bad now with the sup? You wait when we're possibly union and he's at the door at 7:30 counting heads. Or sitting in the lost watching who leaves 5 minutes early.
