To be honest even for those that haven't received any communication about their redundancy (yet) it's hard to focus and stay motivated. How can you be motivated in a company that is laying off about 4400 colleagues worldwide? I believe that many people here are just waiting for the right offer to jump off the ship...

Not really. Agree with Lazy Daisy. It's been difficult to focus and all the time I question the proud I had for this job once.

By the way, just in case you are not aware of this - HR has imposed the restriction that a laid off employee cannot be rehired as a FTE or contractor for 2 years (there was a 1 year restriction a few years ago). But I guess that is a non-issue because in the meantime, they will hire "cheap early talents" to fill the vacant positions. If you are desperate enough to jump back in the cesspool, you have to wait 2 years.

Good luck everyone. Been there and got the t-shirt.

But there is hope. Two weeks after taking the voluntary retirement package (after 20+ years at SAP), I landed a new job (as a contractor where I am now 100% responsible for the success of 'Me, Inc.')

When I was laid off back in 2015, I was informed that I am no longer responsible for the projects I was assigned to and don't need to particiapte in any meetings - they actually removed all my access to the applications and tools that I had access to. I was told in a politically correct manner that for the next month, my main focus was to look for another internal position (very slim pickings because teams just don't have the headcount). It was a very sad and stressful situation. The positions that I applied for either got rejected right away or never received any response until the 11th hour. By the cut off time, HR told me that since I did not get any solid offers, I should pack up and get ready to leave. According to the postings here, April 15th (Monday) is the cut off day for some folks in the states. Best of luck and I wish you all well!!

No it's very difficult to be productive during this time. I was told on March 5th my position was eliminated. I have done very little work aside from a few meetings to on-board the Intern who will take my role I held for 10 years. However, many on my team have been using the time to network and try to secure another role. I'm sure many folks have to complete projects they were assigned to so their severance pay is not held up.
