Finally a bit of common sense.
A company cannot thrive with US standards of ethical behavior in countries where the rules of behavior are very different. Bribes, kickbacks and pay to play are viewed as the cost of business in some countries (right or wrong). Ford is wise to leave the market, if they stayed they would continually struggle with trying to uphold their ethical behavior rules while the competition breezes by them by following the local customs. Ford would also continue to struggle with containing certain behaviors to the Ford subsidiaries in those countries as they move managers and employees from one subsidiary to another and into Ford parent company.
