JEDI Masters Say Final NO to IBM Cloud

Not that there was ever much chance of IBM realistically competing with Amazon or Microsoft, but the final shoe for IBM has dropped. Perhaps this means more cloud and/or salespeople will be redundant.

No one should go all in with a company that only does niche cases. Other companies give more comprehensive solutions which are better for long term growth.

I think the decision must have considered future extensibility of the platform. IBM Cloud competes in 2 niche cases: VMware and Kubernetes. I have many clients for whom VMware based clouds make sense, but zero where containers are possible except for custom app dev, and even then Serverless is leading the way.

I know some sharp guys in IBM Cloud and I wonder what makes them stay when we haven’t produced anything meaningful in terms of market penetration.

I pray to god that IBM Cloud is sold, or that we all get cast to the winds except for IBM Cloud. Letting it sink on its own is the only way to progress the company at this point.

IBM is all about promoting children to management roles and then wonder why things fail.

How many articles have you read where this state or that state has filed a lawsuit against IBM?

IBM was probably never in the running here with their track record.

Oracle? That's just malware and those who have worked with it have the gray hairs to prove it.

THINK about it. If you're the Government, wouldn't you want to just focus on Microsoft (who owns/supports Azure globally) or the Cloud power of Amazon? Common sense would steer me away from IBM and Oracle.

IBM has always been late these days . Back in the day , we made everything, built it and stick was over 300 dollars . We have a very weak CEO who chopped thousands of jobs , people 50 and over asked to exit . We are not great and will not be great until we get back to the founding fathers “ respect for the individual “. Watson said that the employees are the companies most important asset.

Perfect! Might as well take all the bad news at once, as we're just weeks before 1Q19 earnings are announced.

@oop, not to mention that now with the acquisition of Red Hat, the IBM Cloud offering is even more confusing.... So, that will not help either.... but hey, that is IBM's strategy these days... constant re-invention as they call it... For sure customers do not like it!!! Great job IBM!!!

What a surprise!!! NOT. The IBM Cloud is a late to market, ill thought out kludge of bought-in components that is light years behind AWS or Microsoft. A highly embarrassing situation for IBM that belies all their hype and marketing bullsh*t.
