It doesn't matter how many cult rallies Cengage holds, or how many hipster-looking young people they paste on their materials, or whatever different names they come up with, or what wannabe tech models they rip off, or what kind of different pricing models they try and spin....you can't compete with free. The corporate graveyard is filled with the names of dead brands who tried and failed. I tried to tell leadership that years ago, and was told I was a mo--n. I will be enjoying my popcorn while Michael fumbles over the increasingly apocalyptic financials in the upcoming quarters. I wonder if Apex will let him take the company through bankruptcy for the second time in fewer than 10 years? He certainly has the experience.

This is happening because she's been in the biz for over 20 years milking the system and manipulating her way through the rotting carcass of the publishing world. The industry is tanking because frankly, professors have a free option to adopt, and that's exactly what they're doing en masse. No matter what that id--t in marketing comes up with, it will never work because cengage has been bleeding revenue for years and unlimited has done nothing more than cannibalize our own existing adoptions and reduce revenue. These people are clueless because they're the kool aid pushers of the cult. I've been to president's club 8 years in a row and last time I met a real piece of work DM from west texas who as a female version of yosemite sam, a loud mouth weirdo. Anyway, her home campus sports a water park and she thinks this is status quo and has no idea what's really happening out there, how most campuses west of the rockies are supporting homeless people in their tents on the grass. Cengage is out of touch and the id--ts at the KAM level all the way up to the top are about to feel a real pressure cooker, the free ride is coming to a screeching halt and the big id--t in marketing is probably for the first time getting squeezed and she can't take the heat.

Screaming at underlings on conference calls. Providing conflicting directions from one day to the next, and lashing out when employees get confused. Belittling employees in front of large groups. She is vile.

The current CMO is the nastiest person I have ever worked for. Just a hateful, miserable woman who gets her way through fear and intimidation. She has destroyed the little morale that was left. If you’re not one of her pathetic little minions you’ll know what I’m talking about.

This takes me back to the San Fran days, when I was f---ing those little rep b--ches and wining the old broads, the old regional VP's and the old vice president fat pig, what's here name Gee? was that her name? All these c--ts are corrupt old wh--es, we all know it, most are gone... in the fashion old hogs are slaughtered at the yard, they're all gone...

what's most fascinating is watching the "new" talent dev coordinator in Dallas who was sh-- canned for f---ing a subordinate two years ago at Cengage re invent herself as a 'best version' and then pretend she wasn't exploiting a subordinate male for her own s-xual conquest and then pretend this wasn't her #metoo moment. Christie,? you are pathetic

This is just the start. I could see Mason, Farmington Hills or Clifton Park getting shuttered in the "streamlining." Revenue has been in decline for a decade, and there aren't enough sales to justify all the far flung organizations like Gale. Gale's revenue is nearly half of what it was a decade ago. They are going to use Unlimited as an opportunity to consolidate everything and eliminate all of the specialized content and marketing divisions.

Sales force reductions (not confirmed, but expected) won't happen until the sales season is over in early May. I'd be looking for noise from that sector in mid-may thru mid-june, that time period.

At least 13 people were let go. I think most were in production. They said they are trimming back because Cengage Unlimited is leading to fewer textbooks.
