Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Future doesn't look bright

People are leaving Qualcomm in droves and those replacing them have no idea what they're doing. Fresh from college, no experience whatsoever and very little desire to learn. At least that has been my experience in the past year.

Are those the only people who are willing to join Qualcomm at this point? Is that how low we've fallen?

@aja: Q first needs get rid of all the useless, parasitic dreck in management and then maybe there’s a chance for it to remain relevant. Don’t think it will happen, but one only has to look to Broadcom to see the wisdom in this and the results. Hock Tan cut out the management fat while improving compensation and rewards for the real contributors to its success, its engineers. Broadcom holders of RSUs and ESPPs have much to smile about. As to QCOMers?

The financial blueprint that GD put in place, including opex, will haunt QCOM for years. He did not know how to run an innovation company. His short-term EPS focus starved the long term vision of the company. In the end, QCOM will not hit his financial guidance nor will QCOM have a pipeline of products to grow outside of core in the future. In short, if you feel your cubicle is becoming smaller, your benefits are being cut, no room for advancement, constant RIFs then you have been commoditized.
