Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Do business during working hours ?

I hear there are plenty of folks who are doing businesses during regular business hours ? Is HR aware of the situation ? Do managers/exec know such activities and not taking any action ?

How does qualcomm ensure that these folks are productive? As a stock holder this is very concerning.

Is it a fact that some have/manage restaurants too ?

Does it mean they do grocery shopping during office hours ;) ?

I AM OUTSIDER, COME HERE FOR ENTERTAINMENT OCCASIONALLY. THIS IS A INTERESTING CONVERSATION.

I KNOW FOR SURE THERE ARE PLENTY OF GUYS DOING BUSINESS DURING OFFICE HOURS. I LIKE THE SUGGESTION THAT A COMAPY SHOULD ZOOM IN ON SUCH INDIVIDUALS AND PUT AN END. NOT GOOD FOR ANY COMPANY IN ANY STAGE.

GIVEN THAT THIS HAS MUSHROOMED FOR LONG, GUESS TOP MANAGEMNT KNOWS THIS AND DIDNT DO ANYTHING. THEY ARE EQUALLY RESPONSIBLY FOR THIS TO GROW, SO WILL BE YOUR HUMAN RES. DEPARTMENT

I know people in the PMIC VI group that do nothing but business during working hours. HR is useless, don't even try to report a thing to them, it will certainly back fire.

Anyone who has concrete evidence and names: report it to the Qualcomm Ethics Hotline. You can find it on the Qualnet front page or if you're not an employee, just Google "Qualcomm ethics hotline". You can raise concerns anonymously. I guarantee you: if there's concrete evidence, those slackers will be hunted down.

This is the fuuuunnieeest discussion . Looks like there are lots of subsidiaries within.

In my opinion, all this should get folded in next financial release which will bump up the stock price, agree ?

HR folks any thoughts ?

I’m running a happy-ending massage parlor from my office in WT. Clients (like Bob Kraft) shows up before 11am so as not to be noticed by anyone

Pretty discussion :).

It is apparent that Qualcomm can have 40% reduction in staff based on the below discussions. Overstaffing is not healthy for any organization/Company. Simply concluding, HR, exe. management and leadership are nicely incompetent.

This means get out before you are asked to get out with nada !! Just my 2 cents.

-2kpw here's dose of reality. I've made it clear to my management, up to my VP, that I have much more BW to offer as I get my job done in less than 20 hours a week (more like 10 hours a week). I asked for more work. I got in trouble for stirring the pot. How you like that?

Based on my personal and coworkers experiences, at least with my management chain, just behave and do what told to do, nothing more. Or else expect angry bosses.

Proof. My department reduced headcount maybe 40% and still lots of free BW for me and others. Not we don't want to work just bad company, little innovation, lack of commit to more projects to make more money for Q and for stock. I'm doing this right now but they say I can't have more work assignment.

If you are able to do business during office hours then obviously you are slacking , not motivated and have no respect for the work you do. You are not contributing to the bottom line period.

If you have time, go to your manager and find out why you dont have enough work instead of bringing the morale of your team to down. You work for qualcomm and expected to give 100% during the regular business hours. Dont you think your team know what you are doing and this is a ripple going in every which direction.

No wonder qualcomm is not able to move the needle because of slackers.

Everyone needs to have a backup plan instead of putting all your eggs in one place.

I do personal business to include using the xerox machines, faxes and office supplies on Q time and dime. and I also do good work for the company. So if the job is getting done and more... leave it alone. I would say alot of people do the same in one form or another and to a greater or lesser extent. Don't throw stones at your own glass house.

I hear KK is running a prostitution ring during work hours. HR needs to look into this.

If HR, or other executives know about this, sure there will no action [NOP] as they themselves will be guilty ( no generalizing, but big part will in that boat). SM will no nada.

May be qualcomm Board should know this and take action. This should get into SMs performance review.

Perhaps this chain should be fwd. to the board for immediate action.

I know a few people are doing realtor business in office. Qcom should charger them for using the office for their own business. Fire those people makes more sense.

Offices and high cubicle walls are a good thing, made it easy to run my Etsy business and do the books for my brother’s boat rental business. Manager none the wiser. Kiss his butt properly, and it doesn’t matter so much what I do or do not get done. And the great thing about Q managers is that they are clueless about technical things, so you can talk out of your a** and they just nod and say okay when you make up some nonsense for why you’re late with whatever. Can’t tell you how many status update meetings were like a big circle jerk of ppl spraying their BS on the clueless Q manager in the middle.

Interesting to note work/business licences used for outside (personal) businesses... Which groups are those..

Running real estate business during office hours !! Very interesting.

Clearly, Its sounds like either they ( such folks doing businesses) are not working hard or not having enough work load ( balance out of wack for the team I guess) or slacking or not producing quality work products. May be they are buddies with management who don't assign them enough work and have a some deals :) as well.

Very cool Qualcomm - pay them for doing business !

May be if these slackers are identified and booted, Qualcomm can produce some useful products and increase the stock performance.

Real estate, many Qcom engineers hold realtor licenses and they meet customers during regular business hours.

Well, I think the cad software vendors for Q would make a stink if a license was used on work for outside companies.

But since I never liked the company behind your choice of ECAD for pcb, fk them and carry on..
