Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How much layoffs will the smaller store concept produce?

Fancy corporate talk aside, but the formula is simple here: smaller stores equals less employees in them and smaller supply chain. The only question here is how many employees are going to grab the shorter stick here. Any info on how big will the RIFs be due to this?

If you're in a big store and there's a small store nearby , better hope you can get in .

This can't work at Sears because you always need a way to replace workforce if thats what your talking about. From a new process to adding machinery.

For example "Simple Store". Its just impossible for such concept to work with the way it was being introduced. Back when SST was introduced everything went downhill rapidly. Everyone was losing more motivation than they already had. Cut of hours, lots of work loads added it was just overall a big nasty mess. Everything just got ugly. If my store would still be open man I can already guess what positions would get cut it would of been unbearable despite it was already this past 2018.

It’s bad for big stores however if you end up working at one I can’t imagine it will be that bad at all. You’ll have less to stock, most of its just going to be a showroom for arranging delivery so you’ll just do the orders and credit card apps. These might be good to transfer to if they open one near you because they’ll probably close the big box stores first. If it’s commissioned you might do well for a bit cause even if it is Sears the new store thing still draws people out of the woodwork like going out of business sales.
