We have field techs in Ftth for two years and no one is cycling out to give fellow union brothers a chance to cycle in I thought we were all equal we want to learn to test and repair also

Every time somebody talk to me about union sounds like they selling me a time share
Go back to like it was 3-4 years ago seems simple to me
And judging from the contracts that are floating around, the union doesn’t care for anything except getting our dues. Please tell me the provision in any existing contract that shows “job security”. F the company too. I’ll be giving my %2 raise to the union this year I guess. No one is on our side, that is the truth.
So ur definitely anti union and pro management with a company that really doesn’t give 2 effs bout u. Do u understand that Altice doesn’t care on ur job skills or knowledge. All they care about is cheap labor and just fattening their pockets with no regards of their employees. Most ppl voted the union in for job security which def wasn’t coming from management. They’re not even sure if they are gonna b around tomo. Wake up son and smell the coffee.
The third type are the guys that show up and do their jobs. We did before and do now. As far as being butt hurt, we are not the ones who went crying to the CWA because our bosses were being mean to us. In the end the OP is shedding light on the lack of understanding on what a union does. They have no interest in making sure every one is cross trained, or rotated into jobs. Placement is by seniority, and merit counts for nothing. That is the union way. If your bottom guy, get used to seeing guys ahead of you take all the jobs, while your stuck.
At the end of the day this company does not want to pay help or train anybody your best bet, too learn the skill is take a course or volunteer to learn. And we should try to be nice it’s bad enough we dealing with this 🤡 company. Good luck
:@YrBhgrt-3cko What’s the 3rd type of tech? You’re either pro management or pro union. There’s no in between right now. You end up getting effed either way and it’s either with Vaseline or without.
@YrBhgrt-3cko there’s no insults in my comment just stating facts while ur spreading rumors or co-signing them. Ur problem if u got butt hurt over the management or boot licker comment. Toughen up son life’s a biatch.
Only if those techs are the most Sr. guys, otherwise, your stuck. Should’ve looked into what you were voting for.
Oh yeah, there is management, there are boot lickers, but you forgot a third type of tech. Just because we didn’t buy into the union sales pitch doesn’t mean we side with management. It’s not a binary situation, both options s---, and it doesn’t matter now, you got your union, now live with it. But it figures your only recourse are insults for people you don’t agree with.
I was responding to the post below me, they were the ones that referred to the techs as the least most qualified. And we’ve all heard about how seniority works in Oakland. It’s how seniority works in any union. Stick around long enough, and you move up. Merit plays no role, so just survive and advance.
YrBhgrt-2nwk In Oakland they went by seniority and u had to b in good standings. Stop spreading gossip. Doesn’t help the situation unless ur management or a boot licker. Which 1 are u?
pay to play
So in Oakland, they just used the ftth project as a dumping ground for the least skilled techs? That sounds about rite.
in oakland the most least qualified people went on to the ftth and the union of course didn't do anything about it... wasn't merit or seniority based...worth the 2%
The only thing the union is interested in is making sure all their pet techs get the steward positions they are owed for pushing this turd of a deal down all our throats!
We are not equal. It’s called seniority for a reason. The more time you have, the more pull you have. If you have lots of time, and some one in a position your qualified for is taken by a guy who has less, you bump him out of it. Think about that all you new guys who voted in the union. You will never get a chance to move any where! Enjoy looking up at the same guys getting ahead, while you wait for sc-aps. At least without the union, promotions were “supposed” to be merit based. Now, there’s no merit or skill involved. But, you get what you asked for, maybe you should’ve done some independent research instead of listening to either the union or the company. BOHICA!
Is it in your contract?
They are not going to spend the time to train new techs to run or splice the fiber. They want this up and running ASAP.
On that cheap fiber. What a waste of money and time. Union not going to help either.
