Facts,
I took the package on april 2017 for 18 months of my salary ($189,000) and I did not retire. Took a couple of months off and work till I retired last March. Most of the people that was offerred VSP has at least 20 yrs. of service otherwise, you'll never meet the magic number to be eligible. My two co workers turn it down. One was just made the magic number and the other one was 25 yrs. with the company. I was on my 30th years when I took it.
You blew nothing when you work 5-6 months it’s worth more than that cheap package and the majority of guys that took it did not retire and are still working in cable or are making less money now, ride it out be safe stay healthy.
Stop making excuses for people who screwed up. The guys I know that want a package now, were qualified to get them then. They were just too scared to take it. Now they are too scared to work in the new environment. If you don’t like it here leave. We’re union now, we’re safe!
Maybe Everyone was not eligible at that time. Did not have the age or years. I’m sure they would have took the package if they could.......
I know a guy or two who if only “you blew it” was the answer to getting the buy out would have very full tummies!
No more package, and to those whom were offered the package and turn it down, you blew it.
I heard it will be rolled out during your review. I could be wrong.
We only got it offered because we didn’t get it origanaly. If your waiting for a package at this point, you would be better served by taking a step back and looking at the life decisions that put you in your current situation. If you can take a package now, but decided not to when it was offered, you should just shut up and do your J.O.B! Quit crying, you missed the boat.

I made my own package after I got fired. I took my entire 401k and my Cash Balance pension and rolled it all over into an IRA.
there is no way ANY shop got a "package" in their contract. I knew it' been too quiet here for the last couple days.
Ask your union buddies. Brooklyn go that in their contract, maybe other shops will too.
