If this is true, SAP HANA & Cloud are toast.

I was closely linked to the Sales Process in last few years.

All I can tell you is that we are getting a significant amount of revenue in sweet talking to the customers with license audit and indirect licensing policies.

SAP is constantly suffering from "The Ultimate Next Thing" syndrome. Will it be Java, Cloud, HANA, Fiori or whatever else - people immediately rushing to re-write the old systems on a new platform, because it brings budgets and innovation awards. When being up-to-speed with an industry trends works well with new customers - it is often forgotten that there are not so many big opportunities that haven't yet explored (since SAP systems already run decent portion of Fortune 500) - and existing customers scratching their heads in question what is going on with their investments already made and for how long legacy systems going to be supported.

It is true - SAP's cloud offerings are insanely expensive, and to be honest - Oracle licensing audit tactics are what killed them. They have a superior RDMS product, but their business model and screw you attitude is what is hampering them.

The level of people they cut at from HANA at SAP, from Lukert to rock stars like Thomas Jung, signal a real step away from HANA to anyone who is watching. They also made S4 much to difficult for established SAP users to migrate to, it's way too much work and disruption, with Fiori pretty much dead, whats the benefit? Now with SAP clearly reducing staff and support for their on premise solutions and their already deteriorating OSS support which will get that much worse, why risk an S4 conversion?
