Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Front store isn’t going anywhere

Shrinking at some point? Possibly, but never going away. When someone doesn’t feel good, but doesn’t want to go to the dr(happens all the time) they are never going to wait 2 days for their NyQuil in the mail. OTC Medicine means there will always be relevance for a front store. Retailers are failing because of amazon and online shopping in general, but there will always be people who prefer to shop in person. The more retailers that fail just means the ones that are the last man standing will get those customers. My district the front is up almost 5%, scripts are down 3%.

Sure, it may never be gone for good. Why stick around and find out? What if the front end is reduced by 35-50%? How much payroll, and how much would they want to pay managers? 10 years from now the job will be different, borderline unrecognizable. Keep thinking it’s a strong career choice. People get sick, and every place sells medicine. OTC isn’t a good example of why retail will be a significant portion of the company. Cvs won’t want to sell toys, sundries, seasonal, all the terribly expensive health food that no one buys. If you aren’t ready to retire look for something else. At least see what’s out there. I just left last month and couldn’t be happier. Working Monday - Friday and leaving after 8 hours is the greatest thing.

It’s funny , someone posted a link about how front store was ONLY 19 billion. that I s a huge business. And ....retail ( including pharmacy) is a huge portion of the profit at CVS.
