But yet we get an email stating about an open position in Boston. Asking if you know anyone that is qualified for the position to let so-and-so know. Why would you recommend anyone when they could possibly be laid off in a month or better yet they hire this newbie and then you get laid off because they are trying to lower head counts.

Yep it happened not to long ago - a person who left the company was approached after they left and offered a higher level position to come back. No don't think about letting anyone know that has not shown disloyalty but actually let someone that left know about this position before anyone internal. So not long after this person comes back a handful of other people get notice that they are to be laid off.

Makes tons of sense.

Hiring Freeze based in numbers. No new hires.

We were told no new hires in Boston/Quincy...you have to hire from Poland, China & India.

We have a VP level posting in our group for someone local, but that required an exception. I think the only reason we got it is because 3 VPs gave their notice for jobs outside State Street.

Was on a call where SVP addressed someone's question on resourcing, potentially there could be some new hires (<10). There's an executive committee that reviews each new hire including entry level.

400 jobs created outside the United States

Or 400 Temp workers

Or 400 H1-B workers from India
