I know of 2 SAP colleagues who sign up for the JP Morgan Run, just to show that they are enthusiastic about the company. They were very upset at the lay-off but had to show give their best smile and be good corporate citizens. It’s a hard life when you cannot even be yourself, and do lots of wayang to keep job.

I know one of my SAP colleagues who signed up unwillingly too. The hypocritical ones are those who brag the most about their physical prowess in the company. I don’t see them bringing in the revenue but they are so good at networking and self promotion.
I know of another 2 friends from SAP who never go for runs, who also sign up, because their Manager ‘invited’ them to go.
For the non-Malay speaking readers, wayang means “acting” or “putting up a show”...

It is not politically correct, but it is reflective of symptoms on the ground.
I personally know quite a number of wayang kings and queens who turn up, just to show they are good corporate citizens, while cursing and swearing at SAP in private coffee chats.
There are some of us who came only for the run. We didn’t stay for the group photos. That’s hypocritical.
