Thread regarding ShopKo Stores layoffs

They can't even update anyone on severance, they don't even have the dedication to the Shopko employees to tell the truth. Yet, they still get paid hansomly. Still driving the corporate car, using the corporate credit card? Shopko's new motto, " let them all eat cake".

So disappointed with the Corporate Heads of Shopko, where is your integrity? You made the assurance of severance, had the field teams propagate the lie, using their dedication to the ideal of Shopko against them. Have you no shame?

I have not received paycheck. Yep this is concerting

They said that the courts wouldn’t release funds for severance- well they never asked- the contract was b---s--- They used people fully aware they wouldn’t pay.

Never approved? So the document they posted on the Shopko Today Bancruptcy FAQ page that stated that both severance and retention were both approved by the court was a lie? I still have a copy of that. Also, when I emailed HR about filing a claim for either with the court, I was told it was not necessary, that was a lie too?

We closed on the 16th. I worked 2 weeks later then that to finish closing and cleaning the store. I received my retention bonus the week after we closed. ( I was a Asst. Manager). Severance was never approved by the courts so even with a contract they cannot legally pay it. The court may or may not approve it down the line but I would suggest you not count on it. I to am not happy about it but I am mad at the courts not Shopko.

Crazy how us employees have worked so hard for so long and some stayed until the end and we don't get our pay that we were promised. Then you read how they are giving all these $100,000 donations to these foundations which don't get me wrong is great but what about the employees that kept these stores going for so long. If I had it to do over I would have left before the end date.

No no one past the 17th has received severance even with a contract

has anyone gotten any severance pay yet?

Does anyone know if they even requested payment for severance? I was told we would receive a letter to those affected when they find out- so that’s a no sorry your not getting paid

Store closed the 16th and was told severance was still going through the courts- sooooo our contracts don’t mean a darn thing apparently. Terrible to have loyal people do their job then not pay them what they were told or even vacation earned

Shopko did not file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Shopko did file Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Actually, by law a company is not obligated to pay a severance; however, if a contract was sign for severance then the company is obligated to pay out that. Only problem is creditors get first priority in bankruptcy court so the employee payout may be a while.

are you saying shopko has filied ch 7? if so when?

The whole point of bankruptcy is because companies don't have enough money to pay the bills, and Ch 7 usually means they don't have any money to pay anyone but the banks with collateral.

no 'check' in the bank direct deposit from shopko as of yet, for this pay period....its 3am.....very concerned
